Cross Country Teams Dominate Invitational

The Middlebury College cross country teams opened up their fall season by hosting the annual Panther Invitational race. Both the men and women boasted racers in each of the top eight spots in the two races. The Middlebury men won the five-team event with 15 points, followed by Williams (54), Norwich (91), St. Michael's (97) and Vermont Tech (142). The women earned 15 points as well in a six-team event, followed by Williams (53), St. Michael's (75), Norwich (127), Vermont Tech (156) and Johnson State (159).

Michael Schmidt paced the men's squad, capturing the 65-man race with a time of 26:23. Finishing second in 26:28 was Jack Terrett, followed by Vic Guevara in third place (26:30), just two seconds behind. Michael Waters came in fourth (26:42) for the Panthers, followed by Nat Nelson in fifth (27:20), Will Gibbons in sixth (27:29) and Anthony Lee in seventh place (27:33).

On the women's side, Middlebury's Cate Brown was the victor, completing the race with a time of 19:08, three seconds ahead of teammate Erin Toner. Placing third in 19:14.1 was Margo Cramer, followed by Addie Tousley in fourth, just .4 seconds behind. Earning a fifth place finish was Amanda Quinlan (19:15), followed by Sophia Spring in sixth (19:16) and Stephanie Moroney in seventh (19:21). Just 13 seconds separated the Panthers' top eight racers.
