Cross Country Begins Season At Dartmouth

The Middlebury College cross country teams opened up their 2010 campaign with races at Dartmouth. The Panther women, ranked third nationally, came in second to the Big Green, followed by Yale and Williams. The Middlebury men were fourth among the four teams, with Dartmouth winning the event.

Junior Elise Moody-Roberts (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) led the women's team at the event, finishing fourth overall with a time of 20:36. The Panthers also placed two other racers in the top 10, as first-year racer Colette Whitney (High Bridge, N.J.) came in sixth (20:42) and senior Amanda Lee (Lincoln, Neb.) followed in eighth (20:45). Rookie Emily Attwood (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was next for the Panthers in 15th place (21:02.59), followed closely by classmate Madie Hubbell (Des Moines, Iowa) in 16th (21:02.61).

Junior Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) was the top finisher on the men's side, placing 13th overall with a time of 26:15. The Panthers then placed a pack of four runners in an eight-man pack. Senior Jack Terrett (Sherborn, Mass.) led the group in 32nd place (27:05), followed by sophomore Jack Davies (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) in 34th (27:08). Junior Sam Miller (Needham, Mass.) finished 38th (27:26), just edging out teammate and rookie Leif Castren (Kalispell, Mont.) in 39th (27:28).
