Cross Country Women Win, Men Fifth At Williams Invit.

The Panther cross country teams raced at the Williams Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The second-ranked Middlebury women won the 19-team race with 57 points, followed by Williams in second place with 76. The Panther men came in fifth overall with 137 points in the 18-team race, while M.I.T. won the event with 90 points.

The Middlebury women placed three in the top 10 and all five scorers in the top 17 in the race. First-year racer Colette Whitney (High Bridge, N.J.) was the team's top finisher, placing sixth overall with a time of 22:42. Just five seconds behind in eighth place was classmate Madie Hubbell (Des Moines, Iowa) (22:27), followed by sophomore Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.) in 10th place (23:01). Junior Elise Moody-Roberts (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished the race in 16th place (23:03), just ahead of junior Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) in 17th (23:10).

Junior Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) won the 198-man race, finishing with an even time of 26:00. Senior Jack Terrett (Sherborn, Mass.) came in 15th place (26:49), while rookie Greg Krathwohl (Ipswich, Mass.) was not far behind in 18th (26:56). Sophomore Jack Davies (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) in 39th (27:29) and first-year racer Nate Sans (Princeton, Mass.) in 69th (28:01) rounded out the team's scorers.
