Women's XCountry Wins NCAA Regional, Men Fourth - Both Teams Headed To NCAA's

The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NCAA New England Regional hosted by Williams on Saturday. The women won the event and will head to the NCAA's as a team for the 15th straight season. The Panther men finished fourth overall and have qualified for the NCAA's for the first time in school history.

M.I.T. won the men's race, followed by Williams, Brandeis and Middlebury. Junior Michael Schmidt won the event, capturing the 333-man race with a time of 25:40. Senior Jack Terrett finished the race in eighth place (26:05) for the Panther men, followed by sophomore Jack Davies in 27th (26:28). Placing 45th was sophomore Taylor Sundali in 26:54, while rookie Greg Krathwohl rounded out Middlebury's scorers with a 64th place finish (27:11).

First-year racer Colete Whitney continued to pace the Panther women, finishing fifth overall with a time of 22:29 in the 336-person event. Sophomore Addie Tousley also earned a top 10 finish, placing ninth overall in 22:41. Juniors Claire McIlvennie and Margo Cramer finished 13th (22:51) and 14th (22:51.4) respectively, while junior Hannah Meier rounded out the scorers in 19th place (22:58).
