Cross Country Teams Ready For NCAA's

November 15, 2011

The Middlebury College men’s and women's cross country teams will take part in the 2011 NCAA Championship races hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The 32-team races will take place at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin with the women’s event at noon and the men’s race at 1:00 p.m. eastern. The women are making their 16th straight appearance at the event, while the Panther men are going as a team for the second straight time. The Middlebury women will be looking for their seventh NCAA title, previously capturing the crown in ’00, ’01, ’03, ’06, ’08 and ‘10 with second place finishes in ’99, ’02 and ’04.

The top-ranked women earned their way into the national meet with an automatic bid after winning the NCAA Regional race last weekend at Bowdoin. The 11-time NESCAC Champions placed second to Williams at this year’s NESCAC race, topping the Ephs in the Regional.

Travelling with the women will be seniors Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.), Hannah Meier (Charlotte, Vt.), Claire McIlvennie (Ithaca, N.Y.) and Chelsea Ward-Waller (Washington, D.C.), junior Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.), sophomores Emily Singer (Harrison, N.Y.) and Emily Attwood (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and first-year racer Katie Carlson (Princeton, Mass.)

The men’s team earned an automatic bid to the championships after earning an at-large bid a year ago. This season, the team earned a school-best second place finish at last weekend’s NCAA Regional race. The ’10 NESCAC Champions are now ranked eighth nationally.

Making the trip for the men will be seniors Sam Miller (Needham, Mass.), Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) and Taylor Sundali (Ketchum, Idaho), juniors Jack Davies (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and Patrick Hebble (Sudbury, Mass.), sophomores Greg Krathwohl (Ipswich, Mass.) and Nate Sans (Princeton, Mass.), along with first-year racer Kevin Wood (Lincolnshire, Ill.)
