Cross Country Teams Both Place Second At NESCAC Championship

The Middlebury College cross country teams both earned second place finishes at the 2012 NESCAC Championships hosted by Bowdoin. The Tufts men and Williams women claimed the crowns as Coby Horowitz of Bowdoin and Amherst's Keri Lambert won the individual titles.

In the men's 8K team race, Tufts finished with 66 points thanks to five finishers in the top 20. The Jumbos barely held off Middlebury, who totaled 69 points and had its top five finish in the top 22.

Jack Davies led the team with a fourth place finish with a time of 24:32, just six seconds off the winning pace. Earning an 11th place finish was Nate Sans in 24:41, followed by Kevin Wood in 15th place (25:01). Greg Krathwohl cracked the top 20 in 18th place (25:04), while Patrick Hebble rounded out Middlebury’s scorers in 22nd place (25:10).

The women's 6K team event was a record-breaker as the top six runners all beat the previous course standard. Williams was able to defend its 2011 championship with a trio of runners in the top five, followed by Middlebury, who had three finishers in the top 11.

Addie Tousley paced the Panther women with a second place finish, 47 seconds behind a dominate performance from Lambert. Emily Attwood (22:11) and Sarah Guth (22:12) finished in 10th and 11th places respectively for Middlebury, followed by Katie Rominger in 24th (22:30) and Lucy Whipps in 27th (22:35).
