The Middlebury College field hockey team recently received the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Team Award. The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.
Middlebury College field hockey players Catherine Fowler (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and Elinore O’Brien (New Canaan, Conn.) were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American teams. The pair helped lead the Panthers to a 16-3 record in ’13, winning the NESCAC Championship and advancing to the NCAA Regional Finals.
Four members of the Middlebury College field hockey team were honored when the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its all-region teams. Seniors Meredith Rowe (Kenilworth, Ill.) and Elinore O’Brien (New Canaan, Conn.), along with junior Catherine Fowler (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) earned first-team honors, while junior Alyssa DiMaio (Morristown, N.J.) earned a spot on the second team. Fowler was named the New England West Player Of The Year.
Skidmore held off a late charge by Middlebury as the Thoroughbreds (19-3) advanced to the final four with a 3-2 road win on Kohn Field. Second-ranked Middlebury finishes its season with a 16-3 mark, seeing a nine-game winning streak come to an end.
