Middlebury College field hockey players Catherine Fowler (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and Elinore O’Brien (New Canaan, Conn.) were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American teams. The pair helped lead the Panthers to a 16-3 record in ’13, winning the NESCAC Championship and advancing to the NCAA Regional Finals.
Four members of the Middlebury College field hockey team were honored when the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its all-region teams. Seniors Meredith Rowe (Kenilworth, Ill.) and Elinore O’Brien (New Canaan, Conn.), along with junior Catherine Fowler (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) earned first-team honors, while junior Alyssa DiMaio (Morristown, N.J.) earned a spot on the second team. Fowler was named the New England West Player Of The Year.
Skidmore held off a late charge by Middlebury as the Thoroughbreds (19-3) advanced to the final four with a 3-2 road win on Kohn Field. Second-ranked Middlebury finishes its season with a 16-3 mark, seeing a nine-game winning streak come to an end.
Middlebury scored five goals in a 5:43 span early in the first half on its way to an 8-0 win over Utica (17-5) in an NCAA Regional game played on Kohn Field. The second-ranked Panthers (16-2) advanced to Sunday’s Regional Final, where they will take on Skidmore, an 11-1 winner over Keene State, at 1:00 p.m.
