1/16/04 - Middlebury College third-year field hockey coach Katharine DeLorenzo has been named the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) National Coach of the Year. In December, she was named the New England Coach of the Year.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Middlebury College third-year field hockey coach Katharine DeLorenzo has been named the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) New England Coach of the Year. She is one of six finalists for the National Coach of the Year which will be presented in January.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Missy Krempa (Johnstown, N.Y.) of the Middlebury College field hockey team was named a first-team All-American today, by the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association). The senior helped lead Middlebury to a 19-1 season, as they advanced to the NCAA title game. She was a part of a team that set school records for wins (19), winning percentage (.950), winning streak (19 games), goals in a season (71), while tying the school mark with seven shutouts.

Krempa was a huge part of the Middlebury defense this season that allowed just 1.15 goals/game. The team went a span of 367 minutes without allowing a goal this season, a span in which they shutout four straight opponents. Krempa was also the team's fifth-leading scorer with six goals and four assists for 16 points this season.

11/22/03 - ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Middlebury College field hockey team saw its perfect season come to an end as they fell 4-1 to Salisbury in the NCAA Championship game. The four goals are the most Middlebury has given up in a game this season, having only given up three goals once. (box)

11/21/03 - ANNVILLE, Pa. - For the second time in school history, the Middlebury College Field Hockey team will take part in the NCAA Championship game. The '98 champions earned the right with a 2-1 win over Cortland State in the semifinals of the tournament hosted by Lebanon Valley College. The Panthers will take on Salisbury, who was a 1-0 winner over The College of New Jersey, in the title game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (box)

The Panthers earned the right with a 5-1 win over defending NCAA Champion Rowan in a quarterfinal match-up in Middlebury on Sunday. The semifinals will take place next Friday and Saturday at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania. Middlebury will meet Cortland State in one match-up at 11:00, while Salisbury takes on The College of New Jersey in the other semifinal at 1:00. The title game is slated for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

The '98 NCAA Champions also advanced to the semifinals in '94, while they remain the only undefeated team in the nation with a school-record 18-0 mark. MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Six members of Middlebury College Athletic teams were honored today by the NESCAC. Three of the athletes came from the field hockey team, while three also came from the women's soccer squad.

11/10/03 - MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Middlebury College field hockey team will host one of four NCAA Regionals this weekend on Kohn Field. The winner of the regional will advance to the championship weekend on November 21st and 22nd at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Middlebury College field hockey player Becca Brakely (Middlebury, Vt.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the week. The senior had a big weekend for Middlebury as she led the defense to a pair of shutouts en route to the NESCAC Championship. Brakeley also made a big defensive save late in the game to preserve the shutout over Williams. She and the Panther defense have shutout four straight opponents, haven't allowed a goal in 326 minutes and are allowing a mere .88 goals/game. Middlebury will host one of four NCAA Regionals this weekend on Kohn Field.

MIDDLEBURY, Vermont - Middlebury shutout its fourth straight opponent while capturing its first NESCAC Championship with a 1-0 win over Williams. With the win, the Panthers will make their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance when the pairings are announced on Sunday night. It is expected the Middlebury will host an NCAA Regional next weekend on Kohn Field. Williams is in contention for an at-large bid to the tournament.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Middlebury College field hockey player Abigail Lamb (Mendham, N.J.) has been named the NESCAC co-Player of the Week. Last week, she scored six goals and assisted on three others as the Panthers wrapped up a perfect regular season at 14-0. The senior scored four goals in the win over Rensselaer, then broke a school record with three assists to go along with two goals in a conference win over Connecticut College.

Lamb and the Panthers will host the NESCAC semifinals and finals this weekend on Kohn Field.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -Middlebury College field hockey player Char Glessner (Ipswich, Mass.) has been named the NESCAC Co-Player of the Week. The senior had a big game for the Panthers last week as they improved to a perfect 12-0 on the season. Middlebury, ranked second in last week's Division III national poll, is expected to take over the top spot in Tuesday's poll after the top-ranked team suffered a loss.
