Middlebury opens season with win over Skidmore

MIDDLEBURY OPENS SEASON WITH A WIN
MIDDLEBURY, Vermont - Middlebury jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for the 3-2 win over Skidmore in the Panther's season-opener at Kohn Field.
Missy Krempa scored the only goal of the first half as she found the back of the cage down low. Leading 1-0, Ashley Lyddane tipped in a shot from Allison Smith to make it a 2-0 game just 4:08 into the second half. A little under five minutes later, Keely Murphy made it a 3-0 game with a rocket from the outside. Hallory Mogren led the comeback for Skidmore as she tipped a shot high into the cage off the stick of Carrie Caunter to get the Thoroughbreds on the board with 19:36 remaining. Morgren made it a one-goal game at 4:58 as she scored with a solid shot from the outside. That would be as close as Skidmore would come as Middlebury held on the for the win.
Anna Spiegel made nine saves in goal for Middlebury, while Jenna Spackman made 13 stops for Skidmore.
