Field Hockey Hosts NESCAC's For Second Straight Year

11/2/04 - The Middlebury College field hockey team will make its fifth consecutive appearance in the NESCAC Tournament when the host the semifinals and finals on Kohn Field. The Panthers will take on Colby in one semifinal, while Williams meets Tufts in the other contest. The winners will meet at noon on Sunday for the NESCAC title and an automatic bid to the 2004 NCAA Field Hockey Tournament.
The Panthers the weekend ranked third in the latest Division III national poll. Middlebury leads the NESCAC with 4.93 goals/game, while tying for second with a 1.00 goals against average. Leading the team in scoring have been Claire Edelen and Ashley Lyddane. Edelen has 13 goals and nine assists for 35 points on the season, leading the NESCAC in both goals and assists/game. Lyddane is among the top five in goal and points with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points on the year. Rounding out the top scorers are Lauryn Nicasio (8-4-20), Reid Berrien (8-2-18) and Emily Enos (7-2-16). In goal, Meg McGillen is third in the league with a 0.97 goals against average with four shutouts on the season.
