All-NESCAC Field Hockey Announced

November 8, 2006

Four members of the Middlebury College field hockey team were honored today when the NESCAC announced its all-conference teams. Juniors Reid Berrien (Westport, Conn.) and Lacey Farrell (Greenwich, Conn.) both earned first-team honors, while senior Meghan McGillen (E. Harwich, Mass.) and sophomore Taryn Petrelli (Harrison, N.Y.) earned second-team honors. The foursome will lead Middlebury into its fourth consecutive and seventh overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament in a regional this weekend hosted by Bowdoin.

Berrien earns first-team honors for the second consecutive season. She helped lead an offense that ranked second in the NESCAC with 2.53 goals/games on the season. Berrien is tied for the team-lead with 10 goals, ranks second on the squad with six assists, while leading the team with 26 points.

Farrell earns a spot on the first-team after a great junior season in the midfield. She was tied for third on the team with six goals this season, while ranking third with five assists for 17 points.

Defensively, McGillen and Petrelli earn second-team honors after both helping a Panther defense to allow just 1.22 goals/game this season.

McGillen has been solid all season long and has been outstanding in the post-season. She is 14-3 on the year with a 1.21 GAA, an .866 save percentage and six shutouts. McGillen is the school's all-time leader with 21 shutouts, while ranking second with a 1.06 GAA and 427 saves.

Petrelli has started all but one game this season, continuously shutting down the opponent's top scorer. She also had a goal and an assist in an October 28th win over Trinity.
