Field Hockey Players Earns Regional Honors

November 13, 2007

Three members of the Middlebury College field hockey team were honored today when the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) announced its 2007 All-Region teams. Seniors Reid Berrien (Westport, Conn.) and Lacey Farrell (Greenwich, Conn.) were named to the first-team, while junior Tayrn Petrelli (Harrison, N.Y.) was a second-team honoree. The three are preparing for this weekend's final four, taking place at Ursinus College.

Berrien is a three-time All-Region and All-NESCAC selection at Middlebury. The co-captain is second in the league with 2.45 points/game, while leading Middlebury with 21 goals and 49 points to go along with her seven assists. Berrien ranks among the best on the school's all-time scoring lists. Her 59 goals and 137 points are second all-time at Middlebury, while her 19 assists place her third.

Farrell earns a spot on the All-Region and All-NESCAC teams for the second consecutive season. The senior midfielder has been a steady presence all season long for Middlebury, boasting a team-best 10 assists on the year. She has also scored four times for 18 points, placing her fourth on the team in scoring.

Petrelli earns a spot on the All-Region second-team after doing the same on the All-NESCAC squad. The junior defender helped anchor a Middlebury defense that has allowed just 1.49 goals/game this season, including four shutout victories.
