Field Hockey Headed To Bowdoin For NCAA Regional - Watch LiveStats!

The Middlebury College field hockey team will makes its sixth consecutive and ninth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament when they travel to Bowdoin for one of four, four-team NCAA Regionals on Saturday, November 15th and Sunday, November 16th. The Panthers will take on Lebanon Valley, a 6-0 winner over N.E.C., at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the host school meets Stevens, a 2-1 winner over Wooster, at 11:00 a.m. The winners meet on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with a trip to the final four on the line.

Middlebury enters the tournament with an overall record of 15-8 in NCAA Tournament play. The Panthers hosted and won NCAA Regionals in '03 and '04, advancing to the NCAA Championship game in both of those seasons. Middlebury won the NCAA title in '98, finishing with a 17-1 mark. The Panthers fell in NCAA Regionals at Bowdoin in '05 and '06, before falling to the Polar Bears in the NCAA title game a year ago.

Middlebury earned its way into the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid after an impressive 13-3 season. Head coach Katharine DeLorenzo is now in her seventh year as the team's leader, owning a record of 115-30 (.790) at Middlebury entering the weekend.

The Middlebury offense is ranked second in the NESCAC this season with 3.88 goals/game, while the defense is fifth with 1.50 goals allowed/contest. Senior keeper Caitlin Pentifallo has played 97 % of the team's minutes this season, owning a 1.45 GAA.

Leading the team in scoring this season is Chase Delano. The sophomore has enjoyed an impressive season, tying the school record (with current assistant coach Heidi Howard '98) with 23 goals in '08. Her 1.44 goals/game put her second in the NESCAC, as do her 3.31 points/contest. Juniors Heather McCormack (11-7-29) and Sophie Thompson (9-0-18), along with senior Marnie Rowe (5-3-13) and rookie Allison Grant (4-5-13) lead the team in scoring. Junior Mullery Doar leads the team with nine assists, putting her third in the NESCAC with .56 assists/game. Senior Taryn Petrelli anchors the Panthers defense.
