Field Hockey Moves To 3-0

Middlebury broke open a 2-2 game with three goals in a 5:55 span to pick up a 5-2 NESCAC win over Amherst. The Panthers move to 3-0 on the season, while the Jeffs fall to 1-1.

Trailing 1-0, Amherst used a pair of goals from Elizabeth Schink, both on penalty corners, to take a 2-1 lead early in the second half. The Panthers tied the game just 1:10 later as Heather McCormack sent a ball in that was put into the far corner by Marnie Rowe to make it a 2-2 contest.

Chase Delano began the three-goal run as she scored after a scramble, before Sally Ryan took a corner feed from McCormack and scored just 1:10 later. Marnie Rowe wrapped up the scoring with a goal off the pads of Amherst keeper Emily Vitale, to make it a 5-2 final.

Delano and Rowe each scored twice for Middlebury, while McCormack had three assists. Caitlin Pentifallo made 10 saves, all in the first half, to earn the win. Schink scored both goals for Amherst, as Vitale ended the day with seven saves.
