September 10, 2008

Seventh-ranked Middlebury scored two goals in the first 12:24 of the game on its way to a 2-0 win at 15th ranked Skidmore in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Thoroughbred Field.

The Panthers, coming off a 6-2 win over St. Lawrence, improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Thoroughbreds fall to 1-2.

Middlebury came out quickly 3:01 into the contest when Lindsay McBride scored her first goal of the season on a penalty corner by Mullery Doar that put the visitors up 1-0.

Chase Delano took a pass from Taryn Petrelli and shot a rocket into the left side of the goal for her fourth goal of the season, giving the Panthers a 2-0 edge at 12:24.

Skidmore had key chances throughout the contest, including a lift by Chelsea Carroll near the end of the first half that just missed the goal and hit the crossbar, and a break away attempt by Christine Kemp that was denied by Middlebury senior net minder Caitlin Pentifallo.

Pentifallo finished with 10 saves in the shutout, seven of them coming in the second half. Liz Catinella recorded a season-high 11 saves for the Thoroughbreds.
