Field Hockey Wins For The Seventh Time In Eight Games

October 17, 2009

Middlebury broke open a scoreless game in the second half with four tallies on its way to a 4-1 victory over Connecticut College on Kohn Field. The Panthers used four different goal scorers in the game and have now won seven of their last eight contests.

Lauren Greer scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season in transition to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead after a feed from Charlotte Gardiner. Gardiner recorded her second-straight assist just 3:59 later, finding Chase Delano with a crossing pass which led to Delano's second of the year. The offense kept coming, scoring its third goal in less than seven minutes on a penalty corner. Mullery Doar blasted the shot home with assists going to Emily Blair and Lucy Jackson.

After a pair of helpers, Gardiner got in on the scoring at 59:17, knocking in a quick shot after a scramble in the goal area to make it a 4-0 game.

Connecticut College broke up the shutout with 2:42 left to play, as Abby Hine made some nice moves after a corner to create space and score her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Madeline Brooks made five saves in goal to earn the win for the Panthers, while Steph Quinn made five stops for the Camels.
