Field Hockey Cruises Past Colby

Middlebury had little trouble with NESCAC foe Colby, as they defeated the Mules 7-0 in a game played on Kohn Field. The Panthers improve to 4-2 overall (2-2 NESCAC), while the Mules fall to 4-3 (1-3 NESCAC). Middlebury returns to action on Sunday when they host Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m.

Mullery Doar gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead just 4:59 into the game, driving to the goal from the top of the circle. Emily Blair converted a penalty stroke at 8:16 to make it a 2-0 game, before Lauren Greer tipped in a Dana Heritage shot on penalty corner at 11:38.

Sally Ryan gave Middlebury a comfortable 4-0 advantage at 28:25, tipping in a shot from Mullery Doar.

The Panthers kept up the pressure in the second half, as Lauren Greer scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season with a helper going to fellow rookie Charlotte Gardiner. Molly Downey tipped in a Chase Delano shot at 55:59, before Hannah Clarke blasted the game's final goal home from the outside at the 60:35 mark.

Madeline Brooks made seven saves, while Becca Shaw made a pair to combine for the team's second shutout of the season. Liz Fontaine made seven stops in goal for the Mules.
