September 19, 2009
The Panther field hockey team suffered a 2-0 road loss at the hands of NESCAC foe Trinity. Bantam goalkeeper Gina DiNallo made eight saves including several athletic stops to combine with the defense to shut down 11th ranked Middlebury. Trinity, ranked 15th nationally, improves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the league with their fourth consecutive victory. The win was the first for the Bantams over the Panthers since '99, snapping a 13 game skid against the Panthers, who fall to 1-2 and 0-2 in the league.
Robyn Williams struck first for the Bantams, burying a hard shot above the shoulder of Middlebury goalkeeper Madeline Brooks on a penalty stroke to give the Bantams a 1-0 lead. Christy Bradley added another score in the second half and the defense took care of the rest, as no other goals would be scored in the contest.
DiNallo earns her first shutout of the season and the fifth of her career with her outstanding performance in net for the Bantams, while Brooks made 11 stops for the Panthers.
