Lauren Greer netted her team-leading 10th goal of the season to lift 16th ranked Middlebury to a 1-0 win at Connecticut College Saturday. It was the fifth straight win for the Panthers, who improve to 7-3 with a 4-2 mark in league play. The Camels fall to 5-5 with a 2-5 record in the NESCAC.
Greer scored on a pass by Heather Karpas with 20:03 remaining in the opening half. She leads the Panthers with 10 goals, seven assists and 27 points.
Later on in the half, the Camels nearly tied the game with 13:25 to go. The Camels cycled the ball to Abby Hine on a corner with 27:30 to go but her shot was just wide of the cage. Andrea Hoisington helped set up another scoring chance with 13:25 remaining but a shot by Jess Lewis angled just outside the goal.
Greer nearly had her second goal of the day with 29:30 remaining in regulation but Aimee Rich was able to make the diving save on the scoring bid.
Rich finished with four saves in the loss for the hosts, while Madeline Brooks made one stop for the Panthers. Middlebury held a 9-6 advantage in shots, while holding an 11-7 margin in penalty corners.
