All-NESCAC Field Hockey Announced - Greer Is Player Of The Year

November 9, 2011

Middlebury College field hockey player Lauren Greer (N. Hampton, N.H.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Year. Joining Greer as a first-team All-NESCAC selection was junior Charlotte Gardiner (Larchmont, N.Y.), while junior Margaret Souther (Scarsdale, N.Y.) earned a spot on the second team. The three helped lead the Panthers to a 14-3 mark this season, as they prepare for an NCAA Regional at Skidmore this weekend.

Greer leads the team and the nation in scoring. The junior’s 1.82 goals and 4.59 points/game are tops in Division III, while her .94 assists/contest rank her second. Greer set single-season records at Middlebury for goals (31), assists (16) and points (78) this fall, while also owning all three career scoring marks (69-31-169). She was a three-time NESCAC player of the week, scoring two or more goals 12 times this season. The junior has figured in 65 percent (46/71) of her team’s goals this season, including 15 straight from October 1st-8th.
