Field Hockey Ends Perfect Regular Season With Win At Williams

The Middlebury field hockey team wrapped up its perfect regular season with a 4-0 road win at Williams (6-8, 4-6). The top-ranked Panthers (14-0, 10-0) have now shutout their last seven opponents, not allowing a goal since a September 29th game at Wesleyan (505:17). The Panthers will host a NESCAC Quarterfinal game on Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. start.
Middlebury broke through the Williams defense at 12:55 with a goal by Catherine Fowler with an assist by Lauren Greer. This goal opened up the game for Middlebury as Greer tallied her 100th career goal for the Panthers at 8:33 leading her team in the half ahead 2-0.
Middlebury continued to pressure the Ephs through the second half. The Panthers found the back of the goal again at 61:40 when Katherine Theiss scored with an assist from Greer to put Middlebury ahead 3-0. Middlebury closed the game with a goal from Kenyon, assisted by Fowler at 69:36.
Middlebury led the Ephs in shots (27-1) and penalty corners (18-3). Goalie Ariana Spiliotes had 15 saves for the Ephs, while Middlebury goalie Madeline Brooks was untested for the game. Greer now has 100 goals and 45 assists in 70 career games.
