12/7/05 - Senior Coleman Hutzler (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Las Vegas, Nev.) and junior Scott Secor (Lake Odessa, Mich.) were both named to the 2005 New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England team. The duo were also both first-team All-NESCAC selections in '05.

11/17/05 - Four members of the <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College football team were honored today by the NESCAC. Senior Coleman Hutzler (Las Vegas, Nev.) and junior Scott Secor (Lake Odessa, Mich.) were named to the conference's first-team, while juniors Kevin Ryan (Shelton, Conn.) and Steve Hauschka (Needham, Mass.) were second-team honorees.

11/14/05 - Middlebury College quarterback Tiger Lyon (El Paso, Texas) has been named the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week. The junior went 24 of 37 for 282 yards passing in a 21-16 win over Tufts in the season finale. <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lyon threw touchdown passes of 5, 43 and 11 yards in the game, while orchestrating the game-winning drive with five minutes remaining.

11/12/05 - The Middlebury College football team ended its season strong with three wins in its last four contests to finish up at 3-5 after an 0-4 start. The Panthers played their final game at Tufts, picking up a 21-16 win over the Jumbos on Ellis Oval.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

11/7/05 - <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College football player Erik Woodring (Cos Cob, Conn.) has been named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore linebacker had a big day on defense for Middlebury, ending the day with eight tackles in a 45-8 win over Hamilton on Saturday. Three of his tackles came for a loss of 20 yards, he also blocked and recovered a punt, while earning a sack for -6 yards on the afternoon. <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

11/5/05 - Middlebury scored 45 points in the second and third quarters on its way to a 45-8 win over Hamilton on Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium. The Panthers end their season next weekend at Tufts, while the Continentals host Bates.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

10/29/05 - Middlebury put forth a great effort, but came up short as Trinity extended its winning streak to 28 games with a 14-0 win over the Panthers. The streak is the nation's longest in Division III and second only to USC (29 entering today) in all of college football.

10/24/05 - <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College defensive back Scott Secor (Lake Odessa, Mich.) has been named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week. Secor and the Panthers will host Trinity this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium.

10/22/05 - Middlebury picked up its first win of they season as they handed Bates a 41-7 loss in <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Maine. The Panthers rushed for 182 yards on the day, led by Stefan Hrdina's 100-yard effort on 25 carries.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

10/15/05 - Brendan Fulmer caught a touchdown pass, threw a touchdown pass and booted a pair of field goals to lead Williams to a 39-18 win over Middlebury on Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium. The Ephs move to 2-2 on the season, while the Panthers fall to 0-4.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

October 12, 2005

10/12/05 - Middlebury College linebacker Coleman Hutzler (Las Vegas, Nev.) is leading the nation in tackles. The senior captain is averaging 15.0 tackles/game through three games this season, placing him atop the list among Division III players.


Hutlzer began the season with 13 tackles and a sack at Bowdoin, followed that up with 17 in the home-opener vs. Colby, and then registered 15 at Amherst last Saturday. He has 45 total tackles on the season, including a sack and a pass break-up.

October 8, 2005

10/8/05 - Middlebury fell to 0-3 on the season as they came up on the short end of a 15-0 contest at <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Amherst on a rain-soaked Pratt Field in Massachusetts. The Panther defense held Amherst to just six yards passing on the afternoon, but it wasn't enough as Middlebury gained just 106 yards of its own on the day.

October 1, 2005

10/1/05 - Colby improved to 2-0 on the season, while Middlebury fell to 0-2 as the Mules picked up a 20-7 win in the Panther's home-opener. Middlebury will play At <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Amherst next Saturday, while Colby visits Wesleyan.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Redding, Conn.) has been named the NESCAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Hrdina and the Panthers are preparing to host Colby in the team's home-opener on Saturday, October 1st at 1:00 p.m.

9/24/05 - Despite a 238-yard rushing effort by Stefan Hrdina, the <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College football team suffered a 22-21 loss at Bowdoin in the season-opener for both teams.
