Woodring Named Defensive Player of the Week

11/7/05 - <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College football player Erik Woodring (Cos Cob, Conn.) has been named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore linebacker had a big day on defense for Middlebury, ending the day with eight tackles in a 45-8 win over Hamilton on Saturday. Three of his tackles came for a loss of 20 yards, he also blocked and recovered a punt, while earning a sack for -6 yards on the afternoon. <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Woodring is currently second on the team with 62 tackles on the season, to go along with a team-leading 6.5 TFL, a pair of sacks and three blocked kicks. The Panthers wrap up their season on Saturday with a noon kickoff at Tufts.
