Hauschka & Ryan Earn All-New England Honors

Middlebury College football players Steve Hauschka (Needham, Mass.) and Kevin Ryan (Shelton, Conn.) have been named to the New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team. The two seniors helped lead the Panthers to a solid 6-2 record this season, earning them third place the league standings.
Hauschka was first-team selection All-NESCAC selection as both a kicker and a punter this year after earning second-team honors for the previous two seasons. The senior broke the school's single-season record with 10 field goals this season, going 10-12 on the year. He owns the school record with 20 career field goals. Hauschka was second in the league with a 37.9 yard punting average this season. More impressively, 17 of his 52 punts landed inside the opponent's 20 yard line. After a tremendous performance at Colby this season, he was named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week for his punting excellence. He ends his career tied for third on the school's all-time list with a 36.5 yard punting average.
Ryan earns first-team All-Conference honors on the defensive line after being a member of the second-team for the past two seasons. The senior had a huge year on defense for the Panthers, leading the nation, while breaking the school and NESCAC single-season record with 15.5 sacks in eight games. He ends his career tied for first with Paul Shull '00 with 21 career sacks.
