Ashkar Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College football player Remi Ashkar (Glen Rock, N.J.) has been named the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week. The junior scored two touchdowns on the ground, both in the fourth quarter, as the Panthers rallied from a 10-0 deficit after three quarters at Tufts to win 19-17. Ashkar ran for 105 yards on 23 carries (4.57 per carry) with a long of 15 yards and also caught eight passes for 23 yards in the game. He scored on a two-yard run three seconds into the fourth quarter, Middlebury’s first points of the game, and ran in the game-winning touchdown from one yard out with two seconds remaining. Ashkar finished the season fourth in the NESCAC with 83.4 yards rushing/game, gaining 667 yards on 189 carries with 11 touchdowns.
