November 7, 2012

Middlebury College football player McCallum Foote (Newton, Mass.) has been named the NESCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. He was also this week's winner of the prestigious "Gold Helmet" award, given weekly to the top New England performer in Division II/III. The award is given by the New England Football Writers’ Gridiron Club of Greater Boston.

Foote completed 40-58 passes for 456 yards and five touchdowns in Middlebury’s 50-21 win at Hamilton on Saturday. In the process, he established new program and NESCAC records with 27 touchdown passes this season. In addition to his strikes of 34, 19, 24, 16 and 7 yards, the junior also added a four-yard scoring run in the contest. It was the fourth time this year that he has completed five touchdown passes in a game.
