Moores & Chapman Earn All-American Honors

January 4, 2013

Post-season awards continue for the football team as a pair of Panthers were honored as All-Americans by D3Football.com. Senior offensive tackle Ryan Moores earned first team accolades, while senior tight end Billy Chapman earned the honor after being an honorable mention choice a year ago.

Moores, a three-time selection for All-NESCAC, was a second team All-East pick by D3football.com in 2011. He spearheaded an offensive line that allowed the team to rewrite NESCAC and school records for passing. Although Moores didn’t run with or catch the ball, he along with his line mates, shored up the trenches, leading the nation in fewest tackles for losses allowed (2.63/game), allowing just five sacks in over 400 passing attempts. The five sacks allowed is 11th best in Division III.

billychapmanaction11Chapman, a first-team AFCA All-American this season, was chosen as a second-team D3football.com All-American. The tight end collected 61 passes for 693 yards and eight touchdowns, all career highs. Chapman twice made the D3football.com’s weekly honor role as tight end this season, notching four career appearances. Besides making honorable mention All-American in 2011, Chapman was the pre-season selection as a first-team All-American for D3football.com.
