Lefeber & Shimrock Earn NESCAC Honors

Senior Nick Lefeber (Branford, Conn.) and junior Mark Shimrock (Lansdale, Pa.) have both been named to the All-NESCAC second-team. The duo were part of a Middlebury team that won 14 games this season, against 16 losses, including a solid 8-6 mark on the road.

Baseball Ends Season With Split At Bowdoin

The Bowdoin and Middlebury baseball teams split a doubleheader at rainy Pickard Field on Saturday with the Polar Bears taking game one 17-11 before the Panthers claimed game two, 9-6. Middlebury closes their season with a record of 14-16.

Baseball Falls At Bates

The Bates baseball team scored eight runs in the first inning and held on for a 13-11 victory over Middlebury Friday at Leahey Field. Bates raises its record to 13-20. Middlebury drops to 13-15 and will finish with a doubleheader at Bowdoin College on Saturday starting at noon.

Enns Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College baseball player Erich Enns (Lansdale, Pa.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the week. The sophomore had a huge week for Middlebury, going 9-18 (.500) over five games with five home runs and 14 RBI. He also scored nine runs, hit a triple and stole three bases. Enns was huge in the three-game series at Hamilton, hitting .636 with five homers and a dozen RBI. In game two on Saturday at Hamilton, Enns set new school records with three home runs and eight RBI in the game.

Baseball Wins Home Finale Over Castleton

Middlebury won its final home game of the season as they picked up an 11-6 win over Castleton. Christian Hansen earned the win for the Panthers, allowing three earned runs over five innings of work. Middlebury wraps up its season next Friday and Saturday as they travel to Bates and Bowdoin.

Baseball Pounds Hamilton Twice

Middlebury College exploded for 32 runs and the visiting Panthers swept a NESCAC West Division baseball doubleheader (10-2, 22-7) from Hamilton College at Royce Field. Erich Enns hit four homers and drove in 10 runs in the two games. He went 5-for-6 with a program-record three round-trippers and a team-record eight RBI in the second game alone.

Baseball Falls In Game One At Hamilton

Middlebury dropped game one of a three-game set at Hamilton as the Panthers fell 8-7. Hamilton’s Justin Atwood hit two home runs and picked up his third save to lead Hamilton to the win.

Baseball Downed By Plattsurgh

Middlebury dropped a 6-4 non-conference game at Plattsburgh on Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals improve to 12-16 overall, while the Panthers fall to 10-13.

Baseball Drops Two To Amherst

Amherst scored a pair of late runs for an 8-7 come-from-behind win over Middlebury in game one, while pounding out 21 hits in game two for a 14-8 win. The Jeffs take the season series 2-1 after a 14-8 Middlebury win on Friday.

Baseball Takes Game One Over Amherst

Middlebury scored 14 runs on 14 hits and took advantage of seven Amherst errors as the Panthers picked up a 14-8 win over the Jeffs in game one of a three-game NESCAC set at Forbes Field. The two teams return to action on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.

Baseball Wins At Skidmore

Middlebury College broke open a 6-6 game with two runs in the eighth and three in the ninth for an 11-6 non-league win over Skidmore College on Wednesday at Castle Diamond.

Baseball Falls To St Michael's

Middlebury saw its four-game winning streak come to an end as the Panthers fell 7-6 to St. Michael’s on Forbes Field. Middlebury trailed 6-0, but battled back to tie the game at six before the Purple Knights won it with a run in the ninth.

Shimrock Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College baseball player Mark Shimrock (Lansdale, Pa.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the week. During a 4-0 week for the Panthers, Shimrock led his team at the dish with a .538 average, a .647 on-base percentage, and 1.077 slugging percentage. The junior had a pair of doubles, a triple and a home run while driving in six runs and scoring five. He also handled 31 chances in the field flawlessly.

Baseball Sweeps Bates

The Middlebury College baseball team swept a pair of games from Bates on a cold and blustery afternoon at Forbes Field. The Panthers took game one 4-1 before holding on for a 10-9 victory in the second contest. Middlebury returns to action when they host St. Michael’s on Tuesday at 3:30, while Bates hosts Thomas on Monday.

Baseball Tops St. Michael's

Middlebury won its second straight game as they topped in-state foe Saint Michael's 9-5. Mark Shimrock singled, doubled, tripled, and scored two runs to lead the Panthers. Nick Lefeber tripled and singled twice, driving in two runs, while John Lanahan singled twice, scored twice, and tallied two RBIs. Christian Hansen pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.

Baseball Schedule Changes

The Middlebury baseball doubleheader scheduled at Bates this weekend will now be played on Sunday, April 13th at Middlebury, beginning at noon.

Baseball Wins Home-Opener

The Middlebury College baseball team defeated Plymouth State for the second straight season in the team’s home-opener, as the Panthers picked up a 6-3 victory. Middlebury returns to action on Thursday at St. Michael’s, while Plymouth State plays Rivier in Belmont, Massachusetts.

Baseball Splits With Wesleyan

Middlebury earned a split of a doubleheader at Wesleyan on day two of a NESCAC West series. The Panthers picked up three unearned runs in the third inning as the rookie pitching combination of Nick Angstman and Donald McKillop limited Wesleyan to one run on seven hits in securing a win for the Panthers.

Baseball Drops Game One At Wesleyan

Middlebury dropped game one of a three-game NESCAC West set at Wesleyan by a score of 11-5. Trailing 5-3, the Cardinals scored seven runs in the seventh to pick up the victory. Joe Giaimo delivered the big hit in the seventh for the Cardinals, lashing a bases-loaded triple into right centerfield on a full-count pitch to give Wesleyan the lead for good.

Baseball Wins At S. Vermont

Middlebury earned an 8-1 win over Southern Vermont in its first game back since a spring break trip to Arizona. The Panthers pitching combination of Steve Shortle, Robert Palladino, Tom Sullivan and Andrew Somberg scattered six hits over nine innings of work. Palladino picked up the win with three innings of scoreless relief.

Baseball Opens Season In Arizona

The Panther baseball team opened its spring season with a trip to Chandler, Arizona. The Panthers played six contests before battling Williams in a three-game NESCAC west series. In the season-opener, Gustavus Adolphus scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to squeak out an 8-7 win over the Panthers.
