Riester & Armstrong Named All-N.E.

6/1/05 - Middlebury College baseball players Ryan Armstrong (Whitman, Mass.) and David Riester (Appleton, Wis.) have been named second-team selections to the Division III NEIBA (New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association) All-New England team. The duo led the Panthers to a pair of five hundred records, going 14-14 overall and 6-6 in NESCAC play.

Baseball Players Earn Conference Honors

Baseball Team Ends Season

5/8/05 - Middlebury needed one win in two games to earn a bid to the NESCAC Tournament, but the Panthers came up on the short end of a pair of heartbreaking losses. With the two wins, Wesleyan secured the second playoff spot in the NESCAC West and will play at Amherst in next weekend’s NESCAC Tournament.

Baseball Drops Two vs. Bowdoin

5/7/05 - Bowdoin took a pair of games from Middlebury (7-4, 8-2) in the final games of the season for the Polar Bears, who finish 20-14 The Panthers host Wesleyan in a doubleheader tomorrow, needing one win to clinch a NESCAC playoff spot. Wesleyan needs a sweep to earn a bid to the NESCAC tourney.

Baseball Team Tops Castleton

5/4/05 - Middlebury out-hit Castleton 13-4, coming away with a 5-3 win over the Spartans on Forbes Field. Ryan Armstrong went 3-4 with two RBI for Middlebury, improving his NESCAC leading batting average to an even .500 on the season.

Baseball Drops Two At Trinity

5/1/05 - Middlebury traveled to Trinity over the weekend for a pair of non-NESCAC west games in Hartford. In game one, Middlebury trailed 2-1 before plating four runs in the fourth inning, sparked by a two-run double from Noah Walker.

Baseball Pounds St. Michael's

4/26/05 - Middlebury College broke open a close game with six runs in the fourth inning and cruised past Saint Michael's College, 21-1, in baseball action on Tuesday at Doc Jacobs Field. Middlebury improves to 13-8, while Saint Michael's (3-7) three-game winning streak came to an end.

4/22/05 - Middlebury scored nine runs on 13 hits on its way to a 9-1 win over Wesleyan in game one of a three-game series on Forbes Field. The teams hope to play a pair tomorrow, with the first pitch slated for noon.

4/19/05 - The Middlebury College baseball team improved to 12-8 overall as they picked up a 9-6 road win at Skidmore. Justin Wright earned the win, allowing three earned runs over seven innings of work.

Baseball Sweeps Hamilton

4//16/05 - Middlebury improved to 5-4 in NESCAC play, while Hamilton fell to 0-6 as they Panthers swept games two and three today of a three-game series. The Panthers pounded out 29 hits and scored 29 runs en route to 19-1 and 10-2 victories over the Continentals.

Late Surge Lifts Middlebury Over Hamilton

4/15/05 - Middlebury rallied for five runs in the seventh inning en route to an 11-7 come-from-behind victory over Hamilton in game one of a three-game series. The Panthers and Continentals will play games two and three beginning on Saturday at noon.

Baseball Team Falls To Mass. College

4/13/05 - Massachusetts College scored six runs in the first inning and never looked back as they picked up a 14-5 win over Middlebury on Forbes Field. The Trailblazers pounded out 15 hits on the day and took advantage of seven Middlebury errors en route to the win.

4/9/05 - Amherst completed its three-game sweep of Middlebury with  2-1 and 9-3 wins on Saturday, assuming sole possession of first place in the conference standings at 8-3 overall and 3-0 in league play. Middlebury falls to 7-7, 2-4 in NESCAC play.

Amherst Takes Game One

4/8/05 - Amherst starter Chris Edgar pitched six strong innings, and Nick Kehoe added three innings of scoreless relief to lead the Amherst College baseball team to a 7-4 victory in the first of a three-game set against visiting NESCAC West Division rival Middlebury College on Friday.

4/6/05 - Middlebury scored seven runs in the second inning en route to a 15-4 win over St. Michael's in the team's home-opener on Forbes Field. Five different players pitched for the Panthers, with Dave Irwin earning the win with two strong innings of relief.

Armstrong Is Named NESCAC Player of the Week

3/29/05 - Middlebury College baseball player Ryan Armstrong (Whitman, Mass.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The junior hit .548 for Middlebury on its spring trip, including an 8 for 11 effort as the Panthers took two of three from Williams. He ended the 10-game stretch with 12 runs, eight doubles and six walks for an on-base percentage of .600. In the series win over Williams, Armstrong had five doubles, six RBI and four walks, reaching base 80% of the time he came to the plate.

Baseball Team Returns From Florida

3/28/05 - The Middlebury College baseball team opened its season with a 10-game swing in Florida over spring break. The Panthers earned a 4-3 record, before taking two of three from Williams in three NESCAC conference games.
