Baseball Players Earn N.E. Honors

Three members of the Middlebury College baseball team earned second-team honors on the All-New England Division III baseball team today. Senior Joe Ramoin (Nederland, Texas) and sophomores John Lanahan (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Nick Lefeber (Branford, Conn.) were all honored. Ramoin was also selected to play in a senior all-star game at Fenway Park on Sunday, May 28th.

Armstrong and Casnocha Earn NCAA Honors

Middlebury College baseball players Ryan Armstrong (Whitman, Mass.) and Alex Casnocha (San Francisco, Calif.) have been named to the NCAA Tournament All-Region team. The duo helped lead Middlebury to a NESCAC Championship and the teams first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Middlebury ended the season with a school-record 26 wins against 11 losses, going 2-2 in NCAA play.

Baseball Ends Season At NCAA Regional

Middlebury saw its season come to an end as they suffered a 12-10 loss to Southern Maine at an NCAA Regional in Harwich, Massachusetts. The Panthers end their season with a school-record 26 wins against 11 losses including their first two NCAA Tournament wins, ending the tournament with a 2-2 mark.

Panthers Earn Another NCAA Win

Middlebury picked up its second NCAA Tournament win as they pounded out 21 hits on their way to a 14-4 win over Salem State. The Panthers return to action on Friday when they take on Southern Maine at 3:30 p.m.

Baseball Tops Bowdoin In NCAA Play

Middlebury won its first NCAA Tournament game as they picked up a 10-8 win over Bowdoin in their second game at the NCAA Regional in Harwich, Massachusetts. The Panthers advance to take on Salem State on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Middlebury improves on its school record with 25 wins on the season with 10 losses.

Baseball Drops First Game At NCAA's

Middlebury fell to Western New England College 14-2 in their first game at the NCAA New England Regional in Harwich, Massachusetts. The Panthers will play Bowdoin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, with the loser seeing its season come to an end. The winner of the game will play a second game later that day at 4:30 p.m.

Five Named To The All-NESCAC Baseball Team

Five members of the Middlebury College baseball team were honored today when the NESCAC announced its all-conference team. Junior Joe Ramoin (Nederland, Texas), sophomore John Lanahan (Jacksonville, Fla.) and sophomore Jack Britton (Carmel, Calif.) were all first-team selections, while senior Ryan Armstrong (Whitman, Mass.) and sophomore Nick Lefeber (Branford, Conn.) were named to the second team. Head Coach Bob Smith was also honored, by being the named the NESCAC Coach of the Year by his peers.

Baseball Headed To NCAA Regional - WATCH THE GAMES LIVE!

The Middlebury College baseball team will makes its first NCAA Tournament appearance this week when they travel to Harwich, Massachusetts on Cape Cod to take part in the NCAA New England Regional from May 17-21. The Panthers earned a bid into the tournament after going 3-0 en route to the team’s first NESCAC Championship in its first appearance in the tournament.

Lanahan Is Named Player Of The Week

Middlebury College baseball player John Lanahan (Jacksonville, Fla.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week for the second time this season. Lanahan hit a torrid .786 during the 2006 NESCAC Baseball Championship over the weekend, leading Middlebury to its first-ever conference title in its first appearance in the tournament. The sophomore scored six runs, while hitting a double and a key two-run homer in the title game against Tufts on Sunday. Lanahan also drove in eight runs and had an on-base percentage of .812 through the three tournament games.

NCAA Baseball Pairings Announced

The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee has announced the teams that will compete in the NCAA Division III Baseball New England Regional Championship on Cape Cod. The seven-team double elimination tournament is hosted by the ECAC and will be played at Whitehouse field in Harwich, the home of the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Harwich Mariners. The ECAC is partnering with the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce Sports Committee and the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) to host the event which begins on Wednesday, May 17 and will run through Saturday, May 20.

Baseball Wins First NESCAC Championship

Sophomore starter Jack Britton was nearly flawless, tossing an 11-strikeout complete-game to lift the Middlebury College baseball team to their first NESCAC Championship on Sunday in an 8-1 win over Tufts. The Panthers (24-9) finish the NESCAC Championship with a perfect 3-0 mark, pounding out a tournament-record 59 hits to earn the NESCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Tufts (24-14) finish the tourney with a 2-2 record after beating Bowdoin to reach the championship round on Sunday afternoon.

Baseball Wins Two, Headed To NESCAC Title Game(s)

The Middlebury College baseball team has advanced to the NESCAC Championship game after a pair of wins on Saturday. The Panthers will take on the winner of the Bowdoin/Tufts game (played Sunday morning) around 12:30 on Sunday at Bowdoin. The winner of that game will have to defeat the Panthers twice to win the NESCAC Championship. The Panther improve on their school record with 23 wins against nine losses.

Baseball Team Prepares For NESCAC Tourney

Bowdoin College will serve as host for the 2006 NESCAC Baseball Championship this weekend for the top two teams from each division. The 2006 NESCAC Baseball Championship begins on Friday, May 12 at 3:00 p.m. with Williams taking on Bowdoin at Pickard Field in Brunswick, Maine, while Tufts will face Middlebury at Bates’ Leahey Field in Lewiston.

Baseball Drops Two At Bowdoin

Middlebury dropped a pair of games at Bowdoin just one day after clinching their first NESCAC Tournament bid. The Polar Bears will host the NESCAC Championship next weekend and will play Williams in game one of the tournament on Friday afternoon. Middlebury and Tufts will play in the other tournament game on Friday afternoon at Bates. Complete information on the championship will be announced next week.

Baseball Tops Wesleyan, Earns First NESCAC Tourney Bid

Middlebury defeated Wesleyan 3-0, earning the Panthers their first-ever trip to the NESCAC Tournament next weekend at Bowdoin as the number one seed in the NESCAC West. Middlebury also set a school record with their 21st win of the season.

Record Setting Sweep for Baseball Over Hamilton

After winning the first game of a three-game series against Hamilton in record-breaking fashion, the Middlebury baseball team took a doubleheader today from the Continentals 6-2 and 13-0, respectively, to earn the sweep. The Panthers tied the school record for wins in a season with 20, against just seven losses with five games remaining in their regular season. Middlebury plays all five games this week, none bigger than Friday’s NESCAC West make-up game at Wesleyan. With a win, Middlebury will be the top west seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament next weekend at Bowdoin. A loss would put the Panthers in third place and out of post-season competition.

Baseball Cruises To Game One Win At Hamilton

Jack Britton struck out ten in a complete-game victory
and Middlebury College racked up 27 hits en route to a 26-2 New England Small College Athletic Conference West division win against host Hamilton College at Royce Field on April 28.

Timberg Homer Lifts Midd. Over St. Michael's

Sam Timberg hit a two-run homer to left in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Middlebury to a 3-2 win over St. Michael’s on Forbes Field. The Panthers return to action this weekend when they play a three-game NESCAC West set at Hamilton.

Baseball Splits With Amherst

Middlebury and Amherst split a NESCAC West doubleheader, giving the Jeffs the season series, two games to one. The Panthers return to action vs. St. Michael’s on Wedneday before traveling to Hamilton to wrap up NESCAC West play next weekend. Amherst will play at Brandeis on Tuesday.

Amherst Downs Middlebury

Middlebury saw its school-record 10-game winning streak come to an end as they fell 5-2 to Amherst in a NESCAC West match-up on Forbes Field. The Panthers allowed just one earned run in the game, but could not get to Joe Vladeck, who settled down after the first three innings, retiring 18 of the final 21 batters.

Make It 10 Straight

The Middlebury baseball team improved on its school record of 10 straight wins as the Panthers picked up a 15-9 road win at in-state foe St. Michael’s.

Ramoin Ties NCAA Record As Baseball Rolls Over Skidmore

Joe Ramoin tied an NCAA record with four doubles in a game as Middlebury won its ninth straight, a 21-11 win over Skidmore on Forbes Field. The game was not pretty, with 12 errors and 16 men left on base, but the Panthers earned 17 of their 21 runs in the win.

Baseball Team To Host Alumni Dinner

The Middlebury College baseball team will host an alumni weekend on Friday, April 21st and Saturday, April 22nd. There will be a dinner on Friday night following the Panthers game vs. Amherst at 4:00 p.m. Middlebury will then play two against Amherst on Saturday beginning at noon. Lanahan Named NESCAC Player of the Week

Middlebury College baseball player John Lanahan (Jacksonville, Fla.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. Lanahan was red-hot for the Panthers last week, hitting .562 at the plate with nine hits in 16 at-bats.

Baseball Makes It Eight In A Row

After taking two from Tufts on Friday, Middlebury took two more on Saturday, with a pair of wins in their last at-bats. The Panthers extend their winning streak to eight games as they improve to 13-5, while Tufts falls to 12-11.

Baseball Takes Two From Tufts In Home-Openers

In the first meeting between the schools since ’94, Middlebury swept a pair of games from Tufts, 6-5 and 7-3 on Forbes Field. The games were the home-openers for the Panthers, who return to action on Saturday with they host the Jumbos in two more contests beginning at noon.

Baseball Picks Up 21 Hits In Win At Mass. College

Middlebury pounded out 21 hits on its way to a 14-4 win at Massachusetts College on Wednesday. Thirteen different players had hits in the game, with eight players picking up a pair of hits on the afternoon.

Baseball Team Sweeps Wesleyan

After a rainout on Saturday, Middlebury picked up a two-game sweep at Wesleyan on Sunday to move to 4-1 in NESCAC play. The Panthers will have to return to Wesleyan later in the season to make up the one remaining game.

Panthers Return From Arizona

The Middlebury College baseball team headed west to Phoenix, Arizona this season on its spring break trip. After going 4-4 in non-league games, the Panthers took two of three from Williams to open up NESCAC play.
