Men's Hoops Ends Season

2/12/05 - Middlebury ended its season at home as they fell to Colby, 83-66. The game marked the final contest for Middlebury seniors Adam Sinoway, Steve Vento, Mike Salek, Simon Behan and Clark Read.

Late Shots Lifts Bowdoin Over Middlebury

2/11/05 - Middlebury saw its hopes of a NESCAC playoff bid come to an end as they fell to Bowdoin, 74-72. Clark Read tied the game at 72 for Middlebury with a baseline jumper with 10 seconds remaining in the game. Bowdoin quickly inbounded the ball and went coast to coast with a runner in the lane to win it with two seconds remaining.

Plattsburgh Defeats Men's Basketball

2/8/05 - Middlebury was out rebounded 50-30 as they fell at Plattsburgh, 77-64. The Cardinals took a 9-1 lead early and then went on a run midway through the first half to take a 45-25 lead into the halftime break.

Men's Basketball Falls At #4 Amherst

2/5/05 - Middlebury struggled in Amherst as the Jeffs, ranked fourth in the nation, handed the Panthers a 105-73 loss. The Jeffs jumped out to a 16-0 lead and closed the first half on a 14-3 run to take a 62-32 lead into the break.

Trinity Defeats Men's Hoops

2/4/04 - Despite shooting .467 from the floor, Middlebury dropped a 94-70 NESCAC game at Trinity. The Bantams controlled the boards, holding a 45-29 advantage, while shooting .526 on the night.

Norwich Defeats Men's Basketball

2/1/05 - Norwich raced out to a 17-0 lead on Middlebury en route to an 86-70 win over the Panthers at Andrews Hall. Middlebury was held scoreless for almost the first six minutes of the contest.

Early Start Not Enough As Midd. Falls To Williams

1/29/05 - Middlebury got off to a great start but could not continue its pace as they fell to Williams, 72-54. The Panthers held a 7-0 lead early, holding the Ephs scoreless for the game's first 5:00 on 0-9 shooting from the floor.

Men's Basketball Shoots Well, Tops Johnson

1/25/05 - Middlebury broke a four-game skid with an 81-60 win over Johnston State in the Pepin Gym. Every player in uniform scored for the Panthers as they shot a season-high .525 from the floor on their way to the win.

Men's Basketball Falls To Tufts In OT

1/22/05 - Middlebury suffered a heart-breaking NESCAC loss as they fell to Tufts, 91-82 in overtime in the Pepin Gym. The Panthers fall to 1-3 in NESCAC play and will host Johnson on Wednesday at 7:30.

Panthers Fall To Bates

1/21/05 - Middlebury dropped to 1-2 in NESCAC play as they fell to Bates 86-66 at home. The Bobcats jumped out to a 19-9 lead and took a 46-28 lead into the break with a 5-0 run to end the half, shooting .514 from the floor.

Late Shot Lifts Union Over Men's Hoops

1/18/05 - Middlebury suffered a heart-breaking road loss as they fell to Union, 65-64. The Dutchmen hit the game winning three-pointer with just .3 seconds left to cap a 14-point comeback in the game's final 13:40.

Men's Basketball Moves To 1-1 In NESCAC Play

1/15/05 - Middlebury led Wesleyan 44-33 at the half, but could not hold, on as they fell to the Cardinals, 79-74. Wesleyan's Tim Holland was tough to stop as he scored 28 second half points to rally the Cardinals from a 12-point deficit.

Men's Hoops Wins At Conn.

1/14/05 - The Panther men's basketball team opened up NESCAC play with a 57-54 win at Connecticut College. Middlebury led 28-25 at the half and built their largest lead of the second half, a 41-34 advantage with 9:59 to play.

Skidmore Tops Men's Hoops

1/8/05 - Middlebury made a late charge but it wasn't enough as they fell to Skidmore 72-67 at the Pepin Gym. Skidmore jumped out to an 11-2 lead, but the Panthers battled back to take a three-point first half lead. The Thoroughbreds held a one-point halftime lead, but led by no more than eight in the second half. Middlebury came back to cut the lead to two at 69-67 with 1:10 left to play. A pair of free throws by Skidmore with :18 sealed the road win for the Thoroughbreds. Mike Salek led Middlebury with 17 points, Clark Read added 14, while Mike Walsh scored 10.

Men's Basketball Drops Game At Colby-Sawyer

1/6/05 - Middlebury shot .475 from the floor, but it wasn't enough as they fell at Colby-Sawyer, 76-71. The Chargers rallied from a nine-point deficit in the second half to pick up the win. Middlebury led the game from the opening tip until 12:38 remained in the game, when the Chargers grabbed their first lead, 51-49, on a pair of free throws. The game, which was tight throughout, saw eight ties and five lead changes.

Men's Hoops Falls To Plymouth

1/2/05 - Plymouth State ended the game on a 12-0 run to defeat Middlebury 67-57 in the first ever meeting between the schools. The Panthers held eight-point leads in both the first and second halves, but could not hold on. Plymouth owned a big 57-28 advantage on the boards, despite turning the ball over 22 times. Mike Salek led Middlebury with 15 points, while Adam Sinoway added 10. Simon Behan ended the game with 11 assists, eight in the first half.

Men's Hoops Ends Semester With A Win

12/11/04 - Middlebury evened its record at 4-4 heading in to the semester break, after an 87-73 win over Southern Vermont. The Panthers return to action when they host Plymouth State on January 2nd at 2:00 p.m.

Men's Hoops Rolls Over Green Mountain

12/8/04 - Middlebury grabbed 65 rebounds on its way to a 75-55 win over Green Mountain in the Pepin Gym. In a game that featured over 100 missed shots, the Panthers held a 65-42 advantage on the boards. The Middlebury defense held Green Mountain to just .200 from the floor in the first half as they held a 19-point lead at the break. The lead grew to as many as 24 before the Panthers earned the win. Bobby Marcoux paced the team with 17 points, while Adam Sinoway and Clark Read each grabbed 15 boards on the night. The rest of the scoring attack was balanced, with Steve Vento dishing out seven assists.

Men's Basketball Falls At Home To RPI

12/4/04 - Middlebury made a late comeback against Rensselaer, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers fell, 64-55. RPI went on a 12-0 run midway through the second half to take a 49-32 lead. Middlebury came back with a late run, cutting the lead with five with 2:36 left to play, but that's as close as they'd come. Adam Sinoway led the team with 15 points on the afternoon, Clark Read added 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Steve Vento netted 10 points.

Men's Hoops Falls At Hamilton

12/2/04 - Hamilton College's Giorgi Chavleishvili scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to lead the Continentals to a 76-57 win against Middlebury College at Scott Field House.

Men's Basketball Loses At The Buzzer

11/30/04 - Castleton hit a 30-footer at the buzzer to hand Middlebury a 72-69 loss on the road. The Spartans held a slim first half lead with the Panthers taking a one-point advantage into the break. Middlebury led by as many as eight in the second half, before Castleton came back to regain the lead. The teams exchanged the lead in the final few minutes, before the Spartans inbounded the ball with 1.5 seconds left to set up the game-winner. Evan Thompson led Middlebury with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Mike Salek added 11, while Bobby Marcoux netted 10.

Men's Basketball Tops St. Joseph's

11/23/04 - Middlebury improved to 2-1 with a 73-49 win over St. Joseph's in the team's home-opener in Pepin Gym. St. Joe's led by as many as eight in the first half, before trailing by two at the half. With the game tied at 40, the Panthers went on 14-0 and 19-5 second half runs to pull away. Middlebury shot 19 of 30 for .633 from the floor in the second half. Rookie Andrew Harris led Middlebury with 14 points on 5-5 shooting, while Adam Sinoway scored 10 and grabbed eight boards. Simon Behan dished out six assists on the night to go along with nine points.

Men's Basketball Wins Consolation Game At Babson

11/20/04 - In the consolation game of the Babson Tournament, Middlebury (1-1) edged Oberlin College (0-2) by a score of 55-53. Middlebury senior Clark Read (Pepper Pike, Ohio) drained a three-pointer from deep in the right corner to give his team a 54-49 lead with two minutes remaining, but Oberlin scored the next two baskets to get back to within one with 53 seconds left. Senior co-captain Adam Sinoway (Harrisburg, Pa.) then sank one of two free throws to put Middlebury up, 55-53, with 15.2 ticks remaining. Read paced Middlebury with 13 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Men's Hoops Opens Season With Loss At Babson

11/19/04 - Babson College scored 30 points off 27 Middlebury College turnovers as the Beavers defeated the Panthers, 78-55, in the semifinal round of the 2004 Babson Invitational Men's Basketball Tournament. The Panthers will take on Oberlin in the third place game on Saturday.
