Harris Named District I Academic All-American

Middlebury College men’s basketball player Andrew Harris (Waterbury Center, Vt.) has been named a District I Academic All-American by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors Association). The junior is a molecular biology/biochemistry major at Middlebury, currently owning a GPA of 3.88 through this fall. He will now be placed on a national ballot, with the team being named on February 28th.

Men's Basketball Falls To Colby In NESCAC Quarters

The Middlebury men's basketball team saw its season come to an end as they suffered a 91-79 overtime loss to Colby. The Mules outscored the Panthers 19-7 in overtime, behind 11 of 13 foul shooting, while Middlebury went 3-12 from the floor.

Men's Basketball Set To Host NESCAC Quarterfinal

The Middlebury College men’s basketball will host its first-ever NESCAC Tournament game when Colby visits the Pepin Gym on Saturday, February 17th at 2:00 p.m. The fourth-seeded Panthers (15-9) will meet the fifth-seeded Mules (14-10) in one of four NESCAC quarterfinals contests taking place that afternoon.

Men's Hoops Tops Conn. - Panther To Host NESCAC Tourney Match-Up

Middlebury defeated Connecticut College 69-59 in the NESCAC season finale for both teams. With the road win, the Panthers finish the season in fourth place and will host its first-ever NESCAC Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday, February 17th at 2:00 p.m. against Colby. The Camels end their season at 11-13.

Middlebury controlled the boards 49-40 but came up on the short end of an 86-69 non-league game at Plattsburgh. The Panthers shot .365 from the floor, while the Cardinals converted on .471.

Bates shot 63 percent from the floor in the first half, jumping out to a big lead and never looking back, as the Bobcats handed Middlebury an 81-48 loss. Middlebury return to action at Plattsburgh on Tuesday, while Bates will visit Gordon on the same night.

Men's Basketball With NESCAC Win Over Tufts - Thompson Nets 35

Evan Thompson scored a career-high 35 points on 11 of 14 shooting from the floor as Middlebury won a shootout over Tufts, 102-91. The 35 points in a game are the most since Joey Faucher scored 42 on 1/16/97.

Norwich's Jerrold Williams hit four straight free throws and Middlebury went scoreless over the final three minutes as the Cadets came from four-points down to defeat the Panthers, 61-57 at Andrews Hall.

Hoops Teams Raise Money For United Way

The Middlebury College basketball teams recently were instrumental in a fund-raising effort by the United Way of Addison Country. Several players received pledges from donors and then shot 500 free throws. The players raised money/free throw made, with all of the proceeds going toward the United Way. The women’s team raised $4,523, while the men’s squad brought in $1,523.

With the game tied 74-74 with 5:12 left, Williams went on a 12-5 run to secure the victory 86-79 Saturday afternoon at Pepin Gym. The Panthers’ record drops to 12-6 and 2-3 in the NESCAC, while Williams improves to 10-9 and 3-2 in conference play. Middlebury goes on the road to face in-state foe Norwich on Tuesday before hosting a pair of NESCAC games on the weekend.

Middlebury set a new school record with its ninth consecutive win as the Panthers topped Bowdoin 81-58 in NESCAC action Saturday in Pepin Gym. The Panthers continued their hot shooting, hitting .483 of their shots from the floor and .464 from behind the arc.

Men's Basketball Opens NESCAC Play With Win Over Colby

Middlebury and Colby opened their NESCAC schedules with a shootout as the Panthers came away with a 100-93 win over the Mules. The win is the eighth straight for Middlebury, tying a school mark last reached in ’88-’89. The two teams combined to make 25 of 50 shots from behind the three-point arc in the game. The game is the fourth and second consecutive 100-point effort for the Panthers this season.

Rudins Make Maccabi Games A Family Affair

The only thing that could have made the Maccabi Games in Sydney, Australia more memorable for the Rudin family is if dad Mitchell and son Ben had played on the same basketball team.

Middlebury had little trouble with Green Mountain as they earned 102-47 win over the Eagles. The Panthers have now won seven straight as they enter NESCAC play this weekend, when they host Colby and Bowdoin. This also marks the third 100-point game of the season for the Panthers, who lead the NESCAC in scoring.

Middlebury handed Hamilton its first loss of the season as the Panthers picked up an impressive 86-84 road win.

Middlebury trailed 44-35 at the half, but a three-point basket by Wil Hyatt with 12:12 left in the second half gave the Panthers a 58-57 lead -- their first since the score was 5-4.

Middlebury turned up the offense at Castleton as they poured in 99 points on the way to a 99-90 win over the Spartans. The Panthers shot .493 from the floor in the game, forcing 18 turnovers.

Middlebury Sets School Record With 120 Points vs. Mt. Ida

The men's basketball team bounced back after an opening day loss with a 120-61 thumping of Mount Ida at the Gordon Tip-Off Tournament. The 120 points in the game are a new school record, besting 117-point effort by team in '88 and '60. The Panthers shot 59% from the floor and picked up 19 steals in the win.

Lawson, Reilly and Humphrey To Be Honored

Three members of the Middlebury College basketball community will be inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame on October 6th. Former Panther coaches and athletic directors Tom Lawson and Russ Reilly will be inducted, along with former standout player John Humphrey. The ceremony will take play at the Ryan Center on the campus of the University of Rhode Island.
