Middlebury College men’s basketball player Ben Rudin (Scarsdale, N.Y.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week for the second time this season. Rudin led his team to a pair of victories - improving the Panthers’ program-best winning streak to 16 games - by averaging 26.0 points and 3.5 assists per game on 13-of-25 shooting (.520) and 23-of-28 (.821) from the foul line. Friday evening Rudin led all scorers with 25 points in a 62-50 win over Bowdoin before putting on a repeat performance Saturday in a 78-73 decision against Colby with a game-high 27 points and seven assists. Middlebury has now won a school-record 20 games and boasts a 10-0 record at home this season.
Rudin has turned it up a notch in league play this season, averaging 19.9 points, 5.6 assists and 2.1 steals/game, while shooting.450 from the floor. Middlebury will wrap up its regular season this weekend when they travel to Trinity and Amherst. A win over the Jeffs on Saturday would clinch the top seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament.
