McKillop Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College quarterback Donald McKillop (Poway, Calif.) has been named the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week. The junior completed 35 of 50 passes (.700) for 342 yards and two touchdowns (140.66 rating) in helping the Panthers to a 31-24 victory over Trinity. The loss was the first for the Bantams since the Panthers defeated them two years ago, breaking a 15-game winning streak. With the performance, McKillop now owns the Middlebury single-season records for attempts (317), completions (204), and yards (2,131).

Football Knocks Off Trinity

Middlebury handed Trinity its first loss in two years as the Panthers earned a 31-24 win over the Bantams on Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium. The loss snaps a 15-game winning streak for Trinity, dating back to a 23-14 loss to the Panthers in October of ’07. The Bantams entered the game 5-0 and ranked #1 in New England. Middlebury led the entire game with Trinity scoring late to make it a 31-24 final.

Football Tops Bates

Middlebury scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to come from behind and defeat Bates 28-18 amid heavy rain at Garcelon Field on Saturday. After Patrick George gave the Bobcats (0-5) an 18-14 lead with 39 seconds left in the third quarter, the Panthers (2-3) opened the fourth quarter with a 46-yard touchdown drive, capped by James Millard's 26-yard touchdown reception from Middlebury quarterback Donald McKillop (23-43, 252 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception) with 13:13 left to play.

McKillop Leading The Nation

Quarterback Donald McKillop (Poway, Calif.) leads the country in total offense (401.5 yards/game), while spear-heading the nation's most prolific passing offense (403.5 yards/game), according to this week's NCAA Division III statistics report.

Late Comeback Leaves Football Short Of Williams

Williams held off a late surge by Middlebury as the Ephs moved to 3-1 on the season with a 37-27 win over the Panthers (1-3) on Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium. Williams had a slight edge in yardage on the day, holding a 454-403 advantage, but controlled the ball by a margin of 38:38-21:19. Middlebury quarterback Donald McKillop became the school’s all-time leader in passing yardage (4,856), surpassing Mike Keenan, who threw for 4,544 from ’02-’04. Linebacker Eric Kamback tied the school’s single-game record of 20 tackles, held by Josh Bonifas in ’96.

Football Falls At Amherst- McKillop Breaks Records

The Middlebury football team racked up over 500 yards of total offense but it wasn’t enough, as the Panthers suffered a 20-10 road loss at Amherst. Junior quarterback Donald McKillop set the new Middlebury career completions record with 418, surpassing Mike Keenan, who completed 397 passes from ’02-’04. His 47 completions tied his own school and NESCAC record, as he broke his own school mark with 74 attempts. Unfortunately, McKillop threw four interceptions in the game, which led to just seven Amherst points.

Football Thumps Colby In Home-Opener

Middlebury gained 526 yards of total offense on the day, as the Panthers trounced Colby 45-0 in their home-opener on Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium. Middlebury has now won seven straight at home, as well as 13 of its last 14 contests in Vermont. The 45 points are the highest offensive output in a win, since a 55-31 victory over Hamilton in ’03. Middlebury led 14-0 late in the third quarter, before scoring on each of its final five possessions of the game to pull away with the victory. The Panther defense earned four interceptions on the afternoon, while the offense converted 10 of 15 plays on third down.

Football Drops Season-Opener At Bowdoin

Middlebury was outscored 19-0 in the fourth quarter as they lost a shootout at Bowdoin, 50-35 to open up the season. The two teams combined for over 1,000 yards of total offense, as the Polar Bears failed to turn the ball over en route to the win.

Football Team Hosts Successful Clinic

The Middlebury College Football team recently hosted a youth clinic on Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium. Over 140 kids from Addison County in grades 4-8 attended the event with the Panther team and coaching staff. Participants worked their way through several teaching stations, played games, while learning new skills.

Hauschka Earns Starting Job For Baltimore Ravens

On a warm, sunny early autumn afternoon, Baltimore Ravens kicker Steven Hauschka trotted onto the turf at M & T Bank Stadium and glanced up at the scoreboard.

Just under 11 minutes remained in the first quarter of the Ravens’ season-opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, and Hauschka took in the sight of Chiefs: 0, Ravens: 0. The 24-year-old’s boyish face registered no emotion; if he was nervous, excited, or scared out of his purple and black Ravens jersey, you couldn’t tell by looking at his face.

Szentesy Joins Staff On Full-Time Basis

David Szentesy has been named an assistant football coach at Middlebury College. After working as a graduate assistant with the Panthers a year ago, Szentesy will assume a full-time role with the program beginning in the fall of ’09.
