Middlebury College men’s hockey player Jeff Smith (Nepean, Ont.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. Smith was instrumental in the Panthers capturing their sixth NESCAC Championship with a pair of wins in the Kenyon Arena over the weekend. The senior captain led a Middlebury defense that allowed just three goals in two games, including holding the league's second-best offense from Bowdoin to just nine shots in the championship game. With the two wins, Middlebury lowered its nation's-best defense to a mere 1.55 goals/game.
Smith and the Panthers will host an NCAA Quarterfinal this Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
