McKenna Earns All-American Honors

Middlebury College men’s hockey player Jamie McKenna (Lake Placid, N.Y.) has been named an AHCA (American Hockey Coaches Association) second-team All-American. The senior helped lead the Panthers to an impressive 19-7-1 mark with a trip to the NESCAC Championship game.

Men's Hockey Falls In NESCAC Title Game - No NCAA Bid

The Middlebury men's hockey team fell 5-2 at Amherst in the NESCAC Championship game on Saturday night. The Jeffs receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, while the Panthers did not receive a bid for the second straight season. The NESCAC title is the first for the Amherst men, as they hosted the tourney in Orr Rink.

The Middlebury men's hockey team has advanced to the NESCAC Championship game for the 10th straight year after a 4-1 win over Williams at Amherst. The Panthers will take on Amherst, a 3-0 winner over Trinity, on Saturday night at 7:30 in the NESCAC title game.

McKenna & Drolet Earn NESCAC Honors - Drolet Is Rookie Of The Year

Senior Jamie McKenna (Lake Placid, N.Y.) and rookie Martin Drolet (Lachine, Que.) have both been named to the All-NESCAC first-team, while Drolet was also honored as the league’s rookie of the year. The duo helped lead the Panthers to an 18-6-1 record as they head to the NESCAC Championship weekend at Amherst this weekend.

Men's Hockey Headed To Amherst For NESCAC Championship Weekend - Watch Live!

The Middlebury College men’s hockey team will make its 10th consecutive trip in the NESCAC semifinals as they travel to Amherst this weekend. The Panthers will take on Williams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the host school meets Trinity at 7:30 p.m. The winners meet for the NESCAC Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

Middlebury advanced to the NESCAC semifinals after a 6-2 win over Hamilton in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers will meet Williams in the semifinal round next Friday at Amherst. Hamilton ends its season at 9-15-1. Middlebury held 37-19 shots advantage in the game.

Men's Hockey Wraps Up Regular Season With Win At Hamilton

Bryan Curran scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Middlebury to a 5-2 win against Hamilton in the regular season finale for both teams. Middlebury (17-6-1 overall, 14-4-1 NESCAC) clinched the No. 2 seed in the NESCAC championship tournament, while Hamilton (9-14-1, 8-11-0) is the seventh seed, which means the teams will meet again in a quarterfinal game at Middlebury on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 4 p.m.

Men's Hockey Comeback Falls Short At Amherst

Amherst jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held off a furious comeback by Middlebury as the Jeffs picked up a 4-3 win at home. With the victory, Amherst clinched the top seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament and the right to host the semifinals and finals with a quarterfinal win next weekend. The Panthers will wrap up their regular season on Saturday at Hamilton before returning home to host a NESCAC Quarterfinal game next Saturday. Middlebury held a commanding 57-23 shots advantage in the game.

McKenna Named Semifinalist For Concannon Award

Gridiron Club of Greater Boston president Tim Whelan announced today that sixteen NCAA Division II/III players are semi-finalists for the ninth Joe Concannon Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England playing at the D-II/III level. A total of five NESCAC players were among the semi-finalists, including Middlebury's Jamie McKenna (Lake Placid, N.Y.). A year ago, Middlebury's Tom Maldonado won the award.

Men's Hockey Falls To UMass.-Boston In OT

Eric Tufman snapped a shot home just 44 seconds into overtime to lift UMass.-Boston to its second win in as many years over Middlebury, this time by a score of 3-2. The Panthers fall to (16-5-1 overall and 13-3-1 in NESCAC play, while UMB moves to 8-13-2, 4-12-1 in ECAC East play. With the loss, Middlebury moves into second place in the NESCAC, two points behind Amherst, who they’ll visit this Friday. The Panthers out shot the Beacons, 39-18 on the night.

Middlebury won for the fourth time in its last five games as the Panthers earned a 3-2 win over Babson in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers held a 33-25 shots advantage on the night, as they play their final regular season home game on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. vs. UMass.-Boston. Babson will travel south to visit Williams on Saturday afternoon.

Middlebury (14-4-1, 11-2-1 NESCAC) scored six second period goals on its way to a 12-3 win at St. Michael’s (7-10-2, 2-9-1 ECAC East) at Cairns Arena in South Burlington. Charlie Strauss recorded a hat-trick and handed out two helpers, while Ken Suchoski and Martin Drolet each netted two goals while assisting on three others.

McKenna Named Player Of The Week

Middlebury College men’s hockey player Jamie McKenna (Lake Placid, N.Y.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. McKenna had six points on three goals and three assists during a 2-0 weekend for the Panthers at Bowdoin and Colby. Friday evening against the Polar Bears, McKenna collected three assists as Middlebury earned a 5-2 victory. On Saturday against the Mules, McKenna had a hat trick with a three-goal third period en route to a 6-3 Panther win. McKenna, who currently leads the NESCAC in scoring with nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points through 11 games, now has 102 career points.

Middlebury completed a weekend sweep in Maine as they picked up a 6-3 win at Colby. Jamie McKenna earned a hat-trick in the game, surpassing the 100 point mark (102) in his career. John Yanchek made 21 saves in goal to earn the win.

The Middlebury men’s hockey team closed Bowdoin’s Dayton Arena the same way they opened it 52 years ago, by defeating the Polar Bears. The Panthers scored in each period on their way to a 5-2 NESCAC road win on Friday night. Middlebury returns to action on Saturday at Colby, while Bowdoin will open its new rink on Sunday against Williams.

Middlebury outshot Williams 43-28 but it wasn’t enough, as the Panthers settled for a 4-4 tie with the Ephs. Williams came from two goals down in the third period to earn the tie, as neither team found the back of the net in overtime. Middlebury and Williams continue NESCAC play this weekend as they visit Bowdoin and Colby.

Middlebury suffered its first loss of the season as the Panthers fell to Curry 4-1 in their own Holiday Classic Tournament. The Panthers held a 36-26 shots advantage in the game, but saw 35 turned away by Curry netminder Steven Jakiel. The Colonels will meet N.E.C, a 7-0 winner over St. Anselm, in the championship game on Sunday at 4:00, while the Panthers will meet the Hawks in the consolation game at 1:00 p.m.

Middlebury closed out its first semester with a 7-2 loss to the USA Under 18 Team in an exhibition game in Kenyon Arena. The game was tied at 2-2 entering the third period before the Panthers gave up five goals, including four on the power play.

Charlie Strauss scored with 29 seconds remaining in regulation to give Middlebury a 5-4, come-from-behind win over the University of Southern Maine in an ECAC East-NESCAC inter-league game Saturday afternoon at the USM Ice Arena.

Men's Hockey Rolls Past Salem St.

Middlebury improved to 5-0 on the season with an 8-2 road win at Salem State. The Panthers led 1-0 after one period and then outscored their opponents 7-2 from there on to earn the victory. Salem State was penalized 20 times for 83 minutes in the game, including five 10 minute penalties for misconduct.

Middlebury To Sponsor Food Drive Against U.S.A. U-18

The Middlebury College men’s hockey team will host a food drive when the Panthers host the U.S.A. Hockey Under-18 Team on Sunday, December 7th at 4:00 p.m. in Kenyon Arena. Fans are encouraged to bring a canned good or a non-perishable food item to the game. All proceeds will benefit the local HOPE (Helping Overcome Poverty’s Effects) food shelf, with discounted tickets available to those who bring a donation.

Mason Graddock scored a power play goal on a rebound with 2:51 remaining to lift Middlebury to a 3-2 victory over in-state rival Norwich in the title game of the 11th annual PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout. The title is the fourth for the Panthers, as they move to 4-0 on the season. Norwich falls to 2-1-1 on the year, as the Panthers held a 27-19 shots advantage on the night. Middlebury netminder Doug Raeder took home tournament M.V.P. honors for the Panthers.

Middlebury advanced to the finals of the PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout with a 5-3 win over St. Thomas in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers will meet Norwich in the finals on Saturday night at 7:00, while the Tommies will take on Plattsburgh at 4:00 in the consolation game.

Middlebury is set to host the 2008 PrimeLink Great Northern shootout on Friday, November 28th and Saturday, November 29th. Norwich will meet Plattsburgh at 4:00 on Friday, followed by the Middlebury vs. St. Thomas game at 7:00. Saturday's consolation game is at 4:00, followed by the title game at 7:00 p.m.

Middlebury scored five first period goals on its way to a 9-0 win over Tufts in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers held a 47-18 shots advantage in the contest, as Doug Raeder made 18 saves in goal to earn the shutout.

Men's Hockey Opens With Conn. College

Middlebury picked up a 4-3 win over Connecticut College in the season-opener for both teams. The Panthers trailed 2-1 before scoring three goals to take a 4-2 advantage, as they out shot the Camels 14-5 in the third period and 33-22 on the night.

Hockey Team To Host Blue/White & Alumni Games

The Middlebury College men’s hockey team will host its annual Blue/White game on Saturday, November 15th at 4:00 p.m. in Kenyon Arena.

There will also be an alumni three-on-three tournament going on Saturday from 11:00-4:00, while an Alumni game will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

On Monday, November 3rd, men's hockey season tickets may be purchased at the McCullough Student Center or CFA box offices during regular business hours, or by going to go.middlebury.edu/tickets or by calling (802) 443-6433. Season tickets will not be sold after Friday, November 21, 2008.
