Men's Soccer Headed To NESCAC Championship

The Middlebury men’s soccer team advanced to the NESCAC Championship game with a 2-0 victory at top-seeded Wesleyan in a semifinal contest. The sixth-seeded Panthers advanced to Sunday’s championship game for the third straight year, where they will meet Williams, a 2-0 winner over Bowdoin, at noon on Sunday. The loss snapped Wesleyan’s school-record 15-game unbeaten streak, as the Cardinals now stand at 11-1-4 on the season.

Men's Soccer Battles For NESCAC Crown - Watch Live!

Wesleyan University will look to earn the program’s second conference crown this weekend when the top-seeded Cardinals host the 2009 NESCAC Men’s Soccer Championship at Jackson Field in Middletown, Conn. The action begins on Saturday, Nov. 7 with Wesleyan taking on sixth-seeded Middlebury in the first semifinal at 11:00 a.m., followed by fourth-seeded Bowdoin battling second-seeded Williams at 1:30 p.m. The 2009 NESCAC Men’s Soccer Championship wraps up on Sunday, Nov. 8, with the final commencing at 12:00 p.m.

Watkins Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College men’s soccer player Harrison Watkins (San Francisco, Calif.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The junior had a big week for the Panthers, scoring all three goals in a 2-0 week. Watkins opened the week by scoring the game's lone goal on a header in a 1-0 win over Williams on Friday. In a NESCAC quarterfinal win over Amherst, Watkins scored both goals, including the game-winner with less than a minute to go as the Panthers knocked off the Jeffs.

Men's Soccer Headed To NESCAC Semifinals

The Middlebury men’s soccer team advanced to the NESCAC semifinals after a 2-1 quarterfinal win at Amherst. The Panthers will take on the host school from Wesleyan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7th, while Williams meets Bowdoin in the other semifinal at 1:30 p.m. The winners meet for the NESCAC Championship at noon on Sunday. Middlebury’s Harrison Watkins scored both Panther goals in a 2-1 win, including the game-winner in the 89th minute of regulation.

Men's Soccer With Shutout Over Williams - Headed To Amherst For Tournament Game

Middlebury scored the game’s only goal 16:17 into the contest as the Panthers earned a 1-0 victory over Williams in the regular season finale for both teams. The Panthers earn the sixth seed in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament and will visit third-seeded Amherst in a 12:30 p.m. quarterfinal game on Sunday afternoon.

Men's Soccer With NESCAC Win Over Bates

Middlebury picked up a 3-1 win over Bates in a game which was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was rescheduled to Sunday morning and relocated to the artificial turf field of Yarmouth High School due to heavy rains and unsuitable playing conditions on Russell Street Field at Bates.

The Middlebury @ Bates men's soccer game scheduled for Saturday, October 24th has been postponed due to field conditions. The game will be played on Sunday the 25th at Yarmouth High School beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Men's Soccer Falls To Wesleyan

Wesleyan scored goals in the first five and last five minutes of the game to pick up a 2-0 NECAC road win at Middlebury. The Cardinals, who entered the game ranked first in New England and sixth nationally, tie their best start in school history with a 9-0-3 mark, while also tying a record with eight shutouts. The Panthers fall to 6-4-2 on the year, 2-3-2 in NESCAC play.

Men's Soccer With Shutout Over Conn. College

Middlebury won its second straight game as the Panthers earned a 3-0 victory over Connecticut College. The shutout is the fifth of the season for Middlebury, as they return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m.

Men's Soccer Tops Castleton

Middlebury got back on the winning track with a 1-0 victory at home over Castleton State. The game is one of three home games this week for the Panthers, as they host Connecticut College on Saturday and Wesleyan on Sunday. Middlebury moves to 5-3-2 with the victory, while Castleton falls to 7-6-2.

Men's Soccer Blanked At Amherst

Middlebury suffered a 3-0 NESCAC road loss at Amherst, as the Jeffs improve to 6-2-0 (3-2-0 NESCAC). The Panthers fall to 4-3-2 (1-2-2 NESCAC) with the loss and will host Castleton State on Wednesday.

Men's Soccer Settles For Tie With Colby

Middlebury and Colby played 110 minutes of soccer, but that wasn’t enough to determine a winner, as the team settled for a 1-1 tie at Middlebury. The Panthers move to 4-4-2 overall (1-1-2 NESCAC), while the Mules improve to 1-5-2 (0-4-1 NESCAC).

Men's Soccer Blanks Plymouth State

Middlebury got back on track with a 3-0 win over Plymouth State at home. The Panthers improve to 3-2-1 and will host Colby this Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. game, while Plymouth (5-4) will host W. Connecticut on Saturday at 1:00.

Men's Soccer Suffers Loss At Bowdoin

Bowdoin's Tim Prior scored the game's only goal as the Polar Bear men's soccer team survived a defensive struggle against Middlebury on Saturday, 1-0. Bowdoin improves to 4-1-0 (2-1-0 NESCAC), while the Panthers fall to 3-2-1 (1-1-1 NESCAC).

Men's Soccer Win At Norwich

Middlebury improved to 3-1-1 on the season as they earned a 2-1 road win at in-state rival Norwich. The loss snaps a three-game unbeaten streak for the Cadets. The Panthers scored both of their goals within the first 20 minutes of the game and they held off the Cadets in the second half to secure the victory.

Men's Soccer Earns Tie At Trinity

Middlebury held a 2-0 lead but could not make it stand up, as the visiting Panthers surrendered a pair of goals to come away with a 2-2 tie at Trinity. Trinity, ranked No. 5 in New England, is now 2-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the NESCAC with the tie in its home opener. Middlebury, ranked No. 4 in New England, is 2-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the league. Middlebury extends its unbeaten streak against the Bantams to 12 games (9-0-3 since 1999).

Men's Soccer Blanks Colby-Sawyer

Robbie Redmond scored with just 3:54 left on the clock to break-up a scoreless tie and give Middlebury a 1-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer. The Panthers controlled much of the play, holding an 18-4 shots advantage as well as a 12-2 lead in corner kicks. Redmond settled a ball 25 yards from the goal, before ripping a shot into the top of the net for the game-winner.

Panthers Fall To UMFK

The Middlebury men’s soccer team played its second game in as many days, as they dropped a 1-0 decision at home to the University of Maine-Fort Kent. The NAIA Division I powerhouse moves to 4-0 on the season, outscoring its opponents by a 16-1 margin. The Panthers drop to 1-1 after a 1-0 win over Tufts on Saturday.
