MIDDLEBURY AND BOWDOIN BATTLE TO 1-1 TIE
MIDDLEBURY, Vermont – Middlebury saw its winning streak stopped at six games as they battled to a 1-1 tie through 110 minutes against Bowdoin. The game was played in driving rain for a majority of the contest.
The Polar Bears took a 1-0 lead roughly 10 minutes into the second half as Hosheus Isaac found Andrew Russo cutting to the goal. Russo’s first shot was stopped by the legs of Middlebury netminder, Craig Hirsh, but the rebound left an open net for Russo. The Panthers tied the game at 75:38 as Andrew Stewart made a nice crossing pass to John Rusten who ripped a low hard shot into the net to tie the game at one. That would be all the scoring through regulation and a pair of overtimes as the teams each came away with a tie.
Hirsh made five stops on the day for Middlebury, while Travis Derr made seven saves for Bowdoin.
