Cece Earns All-American Honors

12/9/05 - Middlebury College men’s soccer player Derek Cece (Williamstown, Mass.) has been named a third-team All-American by the NSCAA. The senior is also a two-time first-team All-NESCAC selection.

Cece anchored a Middlebury defense this season that allowed just 0.59 goals/game, including a scoreless streak of almost 600 minutes. He was also was in on the offense this season, ranking third on the team with five goals, including a pair of game-winners. He ends his career with nine goals and three assists for 21 points.

Men's Soccer Players Named All-NESCAC

11/10/05 - Three members of the Middlebury College men’s soccer team were named first-team All-NESCAC selections today. Senior Derek Cece (Williamstown, Mass.), along with juniors John Sales (Downington, Pa.) and Zack Toth (Carlisle, Mass.) were all honored. The three helped lead Middlebury to a 10-4-1 record and a trip to the NESCAC semifinals.

11/5/05 - The Middlebury College men's soccer team saw its season come to an end as they fell 1-0 to Amherst in the NESCAC semifinals at Williams. The Panthers end their season with a 10-4-1 mark.

Men's Soccer Headed To NESCAC Semi's

11/2/05 - The Middlebury College men’s soccer team will make its sixth consecutive trip to the NESCAC semifinals this weekend at Williams College. The Panthers will take on Amherst in a semifinal game at 1:30 on Saturday at Williams, while the host school meets Wesleyan at 11:00. The winners meet for the NESCAC Championship at noon on Sunday.

Toth Earns Player of the Week Honors

10/31/05 - Middlebury College men’s soccer player Zack Toth (Carlile, Mass.) has been named the NESCAC co-Player of the Week. The junior goalkeeper had another big week for Middlebury, as he allowed no goals in 200 minutes of action. The junior made six saves in a scoreless tie against Trinity, before making three stops in a NESCAC first-round win over Tufts. He now has eight shutouts on the season with a mere 0.58 GAA.

10/30/05 - Middlebury defeated Tufts in the first-round of the NESCAC Tournament for the third consecutive year as the Panthers came away with a 1-0 victory on Dragone Field. Men's Soccer Ties Trinity, Will Host NESCAC Game On Sunday

10/29/05 - Zack Toth made six saves and held Trinity scoreless for 110 minutes, leaving Middlebury with a 0-0 tie in the NESCAC regular season finale. The Panthers will host Tufts in a NESCAC first-round game on Sunday at 12:30 on Dragone Field.

Outdoor Education

Head for the woods, a secluded gorge, or maybe that hard-to-find fishing hole, and chances are you’ll run into Brodie MacDearmid ’07 when you get there. Brodie hails from the coastal town of Newcastle, Maine, but he spends plenty of time at his grandmother’s inland camp in Rangeley as well. As he sees it, the outdoors are simply a part of who he is.

10/22/05 - Middlebury scored three first half goals on its way to a 4-2 win over Bates in NESCAC action on Saturday. The Panthers move to 6-2 in NESCAC play, while the Bobcats fall to 3-3-2.

Men's Soccer Falls At Amherst

10/20/05 – The Middlebury men’s soccer team lost for the third time in its last four games as they dropped a 2-1 decision at Amherst on Thursday afternoon. The Panthers were out shot 14-10 in the game, but held a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.

10/18/05 - Gabe Wood scored three goals in the opening 4:21 as Middlebury College cruised past Saint Michael’s College, 7-0, in men’s soccer action on Tuesday at Doc Jacobs Field.

Men's Soccer Falls To Williams

10/15/05 - Middlebury suffered just its second loss of the season Saturday as they fell to Williams, 1-0.  Going into the game, neither of the teams had lost a conference game, with Middlebury ranked first in New England and sixth nationally, while Williams ranked second in New England and 13th nationally.

Middlebury Suffers First Loss

10/12/05 - The Middlebury men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season as they fell to in-state foe Norwich, 2-1. Drew Dilley scored the game-winning goal for the Cadets with 3:48 remaining in overtime to lift Norwich (10-1-1) to the win.

Another Shutout For Men's Soccer

10/2/05 - Middlebury improved its defensive scoreless streak 557:24 as they earned their sixth consecutive shutout with a 3-0 victory over NESCAC foe Bowdoin. The Panthers entered the game ranked second in New England, while Bowdoin sat at number four.

Men's Soccer Remains Undefeated

10/1/05 - Middlebury moved to 6-0 on the season as they blanked Colby 4-0 for their fifth consecutive shutout.  The Panthers outshot the Mules 10-2 on the day, holding them without a shot in the second half.

Middlebury Earns Shutout Over Wesleyan

9/24/05 - The Panther men’s soccer team improved to 5-0 with four shutouts on the season, as they picked up a 1-0 NESCAC road win at Wesleyan. Baer Fisher scored 20 minutes into the game as his deep cross sailed over the goalkeepers head and into the back of the net. Zack Toth played impressive in goal, making four saves on the afternoon.

9/21/05 - Middlebury improved to 4-0 with its third consecutive shutout as the Panthers blanked Colby-Sawyer, 3-0. Middlebury outshot its opponent 14-3 on the afternoon, and will return to action on Saturday at Wesleyan.

Men's Soccer Blanks Tufts, 3-0

9/17/05 - David LaRocca scored a pair of goals to help lift Middlebury to a 3-0 NESCAC road win at Tufts. After a scoreless first half, Vandy Shanholt put the visitors up 1-0 in the 52nd minute. Alex Elias struck a ball that was blocked back to Shanholt, who blasted in his second goal of the season.

9/15/05 - Middlebury out shot Castleton State 30-4 on its way to a 3-0 win over the Spartans in an in-state match-up. The Panthers move to 2-0 and will take on Tufts this Saturday in Massachusetts.

Men's Soccer Wins Season-Opener

9/10/05 - The Panther men’s soccer team opened up the ’05 campaign with a 3-1 win over Connecticut College. Middlebury held a 16-5 shots advantage and will return to action on Wednesday when they host Castleton State at 4:30.
