Three Men's Soccer Players Earn N.E. Honors

Three members of the Middlebury College men’s soccer team earned NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of American) All-New England honors. Seniors David Lee (Mendham, N.J.) and Zack Toth (Carlisle, Mass.), along with sophomore Casey Ftorek (Wolfeboro, N.H.) all earned spots on the team. The three helped lead the Panthers to an 11-6-1 record, with a trip to the NESCAC Championship as well as the NCAA Tournament.

Men's Soccer Falls In NCAA Tourney

The Middlebury men's soccer team saw its season come to an end with a 2-1 loss to St. Lawrence in an NCAA Regional hosted by N.Y.U. The Panthers end their season at 11-6-1.

Men's Soccer Players Earn NESCAC Honors

Three members of the Middlebury College men’s soccer team were honored today when the NESCAC announced its all-conference teams. Seniors David Lee (Mendham, N.J.) and Zack Toth (Carlisle, Mass.), along with sophomore Casey Ftorek (Wolfeboro, N.H.) were all named to the squads. The three are preparing to lead Middlebury into the NCAA Regionals this weekend at NJIT.

Men's Soccer To Play NCAA Tourney In N.J.

The Middlebury College men’s soccer team will make its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance this weekend in a regional hosted by New York University. The games will be played on the campus of the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, N.J. The Panthers (11-5-1) will take on St. Lawrence (11-5-2) on Saturday, November 11th at 7:30 p.m. Roger Williams (13-6-2) meets N.Y.U. (13-3-2) at 5:00 p.m. in the other match-up. The winners will meet in the regional final on Sunday night at 6:00.

Toth Is Named NESCAC Player of the Week

Middlebury College men’s soccer play Zach Toth (Carlile, Mass.) has been named the NESCAC player of the week. Toth had an impressive weekend for Middlebury, making 15 saves while allowing no goals in 200 minutes of work. Toth made nine saves against Amherst on Saturday in a 1-0 win to put the Panthers into the championship match against Williams, followed on Sunday with six more saves against the Ephs. He now has 14 career shutouts in two years as a starter.

Men's Soccer Falls In NESCAC Title Game On PK's

The Middlebury men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie at Williams in NESCAC Championship game. Unfortunately for the Panthers, the Ephs won the title with a 3-2 edge in penalty kicks. Williams (13-1-1), with its only two blemishes coming at the hands of Middlebury, earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers (11-5-1) will hope for an at-large bid when the selections are announced late Sunday night or Monday morning.

Men's Soccer Tops Amherst - Will Play For NESCAC Title

The Middlebury men's soccer team has advanced to the NESCAC Championship game with a 1-0 win over Amherst at Williams. The win avenges a 3-1 loss to the Jeffs on Dragone Field earlier this season. The Panthers will take on the host school, a 3-0 winner over Bates, at noon on Sunday for the NESCAC Championship game.

Williams College will look to earn its fifth NESCAC title in the past seven years this weekend when the Ephs host the 2006 NESCAC Men’s Soccer Championship at Cole Field in Williamstown, Mass. Williams, the number-one seed for the fourth year in a row, will take on sixth-seeded Bates on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 11:00 a.m. in the first semifinal game, followed afterwards at 1:30 p.m. with second-seeded Amherst facing fifth-seeded Middlebury. The 2006 NESCAC Men’s Soccer Championship will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 5, with the final match at 12:00 p.m.

Men's Soccer Wins NESCAC Tournament Game At Bowdoin

The Middlebury men's soccer team picked up an impressive NESCAC Tournament first-round win as they travelled to Maine and defeated Bowdoin, 2-1. The Panthers will play Amherst at Williams next Saturday in a semifinal contest at 1:30. The host school meets Bates at 11:00 in the other semifinal. The Championship game is set for noon on Sunday. The Polar Bears finish their season with a record of 10-4-1.

Men's Soccer Blanks Trinity

Middlebury earned its sixth shutout of the season as they picked up a 3-0 win over Trinity in the NESCAC regular season finale. The game was played in the driving rain on Dragone Field, as Trinity ended its season at 2-10-1. The Panthers earn a bid to the NESCAC Tournament and will play a 1:30 game at Bowdoin on Sunday.

Keene Tops Men's Soccer

Cal Mintz was stellar in goal, making 12 saves on the afternoon as Keene topped Middlebury 2-0 in a battle between a pair of top seven teams in New England. The Panthers wrap up their regular season at home against Trinity on Saturday, while Keene hosts UMass.-Boston on Saturday.

Men's Soccer Falls To Bates

Bates scored the game’s only goal at 66:24 as the Bobcats handed Middlebury a 1-0 loss on Dragone Field. The Panthers return to action when they host Keene State on Wednesday, while Bates hosts Maine-Machias on Tuesday.

Men's Soccer With OT Win At Williams

Middlebury picked up a much-needed win as they earned a 3-2 overtime win at Williams. The Panther, who had been struggling in NESCAC play, handed the Ephs (10-1) their first loss of the season.

Middlebury Rolls Over Norwich

Middlebury scored three goals in a 7:08 span in the second half on its way to a 5-0 shutout over in-state foe Norwich. The game marked the return to Middlebury of Norwich head coach Kyle Dezotell, the ’03 graduate left as the Panthers’ all-time leading scorer.

Amherst Tops Men's Soccer

Amherst picked up a big NESCAC win as they earned a 3-1 victory over Middlebury on Dragone Field. The Panthers return to action when the host Norwich on Wednesday, while Amherst plays at WNEC on Wednesday.

Bowdoin Downs Men's Soccer

Goalkeeper Nathan Lovitz stopped eight shots for his second shutout of the weekend as the Bowdoin College men's soccer team defeated Middlebury on Sunday, 2-0. The Polar Bears, who got goals from Simon Parsons and Brendan Egan, improve to 6-1-0 (4-1-0 NESCAC), while Middlebury falls to 5-2-0 (3-2-0 NESCAC).

Men's Soccer Wins At Colby

David LaRocca scored the eventual game-winning goal about 16 minutes into the second half as the Middlebury men's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Colby in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday. The shutout is the fourth of the season for the 6-1 Panthers.

Middlebury controlled play for much of the game, scoring early and settling in for a 5-0 win. For the game Middlebury out-shot the Spartans 23-7, and the Panthers held a 14-3 edge in corner kicks.

Ftorek Earns Player of the Week Honors

Middlebury College men’s soccer player Casey Ftorek (Wolfeboro, N.H.) has been named the NESCAC men’s soccer player of the week. He began his career with a bang, netting three goals in the Panthers’ 4-0 season-opening victory at NESCAC foe Connecticut College. A transfer from Union, Ftorek scored just five minutes into the contest, added a second tally in the 17th minute and finished the day with the game’s final goal in the 74th minute.

Ftorek Scores Three In Panther Debuit

Transfer Casey Ftorek tallied a hat-trick, powering Middlebury (1-0) to a 4-0 victory over host Connecticut College in the season opener for both teams. John Sales added a score for the Panthers in the NESCAC contest. Zack Toth had two saves for the Panthers. Sophomore Ted Lane made five stops for the Camels.
