Bush Named All-American - All-N.E. Honors Announced

Six members of the Middlebury College men’s soccer team were honored when the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) named its All-New England and All-American teams. Senior Brian Bush (Madison, Wis.) was a first-team All-American selection, while also holding first-team All-N.E. honors, while senior Allen Bourdon (Lyme, N.H.) earned first-team All-N.E. honors. Earning second-team New England honors were senior Corey Moffat (Berkeley, Calif.) and junior Colin Nangle (Westport, Conn.), rookie Tyler Macnee (Williston, Vt.) earned a spot on the third team, while senior Baer Fisher (Kenilworth, Ill.) was a fourth-team selection.

Saward Named Regional Coach Of The Year

Middlebury College men’s soccer coach David Saward has been named the NSCAA/Adidas New England Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Saward recently guided the Panthers to a 15-2-4 record, including a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Men's Soccer Falls To Stevens On PK's

Middlebury saw its season come to an end with a 4-3 loss to Stevens on penalty kicks (1-1 tie) in an NCAA Sectional final contest. The Panthers end their season with a 15-2-4 record, second most wins in school history. The shootout loss for the Panthers is the first in its last four tries in NCAA play over the past two seasons.

Men's Soccer Tops Carleton To Advance To Sectional Final

Middlebury advanced to the NCAA Sectional Finals (quarterfinals) with a 1-0 win over Carleton at Stevens Institute in Hoboken, N.J. The Panthers will meet the host school on Sunday at 6:00 p.m., after Stevens beat Johns Hopkins 2-1 in penalty kicks after a scoreless tie.

Men's Soccer Headed To Stevens For Sectional - Follow It Live!

The Middlebury College men’s soccer team is in the midst of its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance as they head to Stevens Institute for a sectional this weekend. The games will take place in Hoboken, N.J. this Saturday and Sunday, November 22nd and 23rd. The Panthers will meet Carleton of Minnesota in one game at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the host school meets Johns Hopkins at 7:30 p.m. The sectional final is slated for 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, with a trip to the final four on the line.

Men's Soccer Tops Norwich - Headed To Sectionals

Middlebury advanced to the NCAA sectionals with a 1-0 win over in-state foe Norwich on Sunday afternoon in a regional final match-up. The Panthers will take on Carleton next weekend at Stevens Institute with dates and times set for release on Monday. Norwich ends its run with an impressive 18-3-1 mark.

Middlebury and Framingham State battled to a scoreless tie through 110 minutes of action in an NCAA Tournament first-round game in Vermont. The Panthers advances to the regional final with a 4-1 win in penalty kicks, as they return to action on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against Norwich, a 1-0 winner over Clark.

Men's Soccer Dominates NESCAC Awards

The Middlebury College men’s soccer team dominated the NESCAC post-season awards, earning the league’s Player of the Year - senior keeper Brian Bush (Madison, Wis.), Rookie of the Year – Tyler Macnee (Williston, Vt.) and Coach of the Year, David Saward. Joining Bush on the first-team were seniors Allen Bourdon (Lyme, N.H.) and Corey Moffat (Berkeley, Calif.) and junior Colin Nangle (Westport, Mass.). Along with Macnee on the second-team was senior Baer Fisher (Kenilworth, Ill.). The Panthers are currently 13-2-2 and preparing to host an NCAA Regional this weekend.

Men's Soccer To Host NCAA Regional - Watch Live!

The Middlebury College men’s soccer team will make its ninth NCAA Tournament appearance this weekend when they host an NCAA Regional on campus. The Panthers will take on Framingham State at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15th, while Norwich meets Clark in the second contest at 1:30 p.m. The winners meet in the regional final on Sunday, November 16th at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are priced at $6 for adults and $3 for students. Amherst won its first NESCAC men’s soccer championship with a 2-0 victory over defending champion Middlebury in Vermont. The Jeffs pick up their first title game win in four appearances, as they improve to 12-3-2 overall, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers move to 2-2-1 in NESCAC title games, 13-2-2 overall in ’08, and are received an at-large bid to the NCAA's. Pairings, dates and sites will be announced on Monday.

Defending NESCAC and NCAA champion Middlebury College will look to capture its second-straight conference crown and third in program history this weekend when the Panthers host the semifinals and final of the 2008 NESCAC Men’s Soccer Championship in Middlebury, Vt. Top-seeded Middlebury will face fourth-seeded Williams in the first semifinal on Saturday, Nov. 8 and will be followed shortly after by third-seeded Trinity taking on second-seeded Amherst. The 2008 NESCAC Men’s Soccer Championship concludes on Sunday, Nov. 9 with the final match slated for a 12:00 p.m. start.

Bush Named NESCAC Player Of The Week

Middlebury College men’s soccer player Brian Bush (Madison, Wis.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. Bush did not allow a goal in over 262 minutes of action last week as he led the Panthers to three shutout wins. Bush made eight total saves, playing the full 90 minutes in net in 1-0 victories against Keene St. and Williams, while playing 82 minutes in the 3-0 Sunday quarterfinal win over Bowdoin. He now has eight shutouts this year and 21 over the past two seasons for the Panthers.

Top-seeded Middlebury topped Bowdoin 3-0 in a NESCAC Quarterfinal contest on Sunday, earning the Panthers right to host the semifinals and finals next weekend. The Middlebury men's soccer team ended its regular season with a NESCAC road win at Williams by a score of 1-0. The Panthers are the top seed in the upcoming tournament and will host #8 Bowdoin in a quarterfinal game on Sunday at noon.

Bush & Nangle Earns Academic All-American Honors

Middlebury College men’s soccer players Brian Bush (Madison, Wis.) and Colin Nangle (Westport, Conn.) have been named District I second-team Academic All-Americans by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors Association). The duo have helped lead the Panthers to a 10-1-2 record as New England’s top-ranked team.

Middlebury picked up its first win over Keene State in the last four meetings between the schools as the Panthers were 1-0 victors. The game was played on Middlebury’s FieldTurf, with a cold driving rain for much of the contest. Middlebury wraps up its regular season at Williams on Friday before hosting a NESCAC Quarterfinal on Sunday at noon, while Keene visits W. Connecticut on Saturday.

Men's Soccer Battles To 1-1 Tie At Conn.

Middlebury and Connecticut College battled to a 1-1 tie through two overtimes, as the Panthers played their second double overtime game of the week (2-1 win over Norwich on Wednesday). With the tie, the Panthers have locked up a NESCAC first-round home game and will host a contest on Sunday, November 2nd at 12:00. If victorious, Middlebury would be the tournament’s top seed and host the NESCAC semifinals and championship on November 8th and 9th.

Men's Soccer With 2OT Win Over Norwich

Middlebury’s Brooks Farrar scored his first career goal with 43 seconds left in double overtime to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 win over in-state foe Norwich. Allen Bourdon found Farrar with a quick crossing pass from 10 yards out, before he redirected the pass into the back of the net. The Panthers extend their all-time series lead over Norwich to 43-3-4, despite Cadet victories in ’01 and ’05.

Men's Soccer Streak Comes To An End

Middlebury saw its 18-game unbeaten streak come to an end as the Panthers dropped a 1-0 contest to Bates at home. The lost is the first for the Panthers since a 2-1 double overtime loss at Keene State on October 23rd of last year, while they suffer their first shutout loss since a 2-0 decision to Keene State on October 25th of 2006. It is also the team’s first defeat on their Field Turf surface installed last fall, as they were 14-0-1 entering today’s contest.

Tyler Macnee scored a pair of second-half goals Tuesday afternoon as Middlebury defeated Plymouth State 3-0, in a non-conference men’s soccer match at Panther Field.

Men's Soccer With 14th Shutout In Last 17 Games

Middlebury improved to 7-0-1 on the season as they picked up a 2-0 shutout victory over Tufts in NESCAC play. The Panthers are now riding a 17-game unbeaten streak dating back to last season, including 14 shutouts in that span, while boasting a 14-0-1 mark on its new Field Turf surface. The Jumbos lose for the third time in their last four games, moving to 5-4-1 on the year.

Middlebury remained unbeaten on the season as the Panthers picked up a 3-0 shutout win over Trinity at home. The loss snaps a five-game winning streak for the Bantams (7-2), while the Panthers remain unbeaten at 6-0-1.

The Middlebury men's soccer team remained unbeaten this season with a 1-0 victory over Bowdoin on Saturday at Pickard Field. The fourth-ranked Panthers earn their fourth shutout of the season and improve to 6-0-1 (3-0-1 NESCAC) this season, while Bowdoin falls to 2-4-0 (1-3-0) this year.

Tyler Macnee scored a pair of goals in the first half as Middlebury remained unbeaten with a 3-0 NESCAC road win at Colby on Saturday. Macnee tallied unassisted just 3:40 into the game and then added another goal at 35:40 when he placed a shot into the left corner of the net.

Men's Soccer Settles For Tie With Wesleyan

Despite holding a 19-8 advantage in shots, Middlebury was unable to pick up the win as they settled for a 1-1 tie with Wesleyan in a NESCAC home game on campus. The Panthers will enjoy a week off before traveling to Colby next Saturday.

Men's Soccer Wins At Colby-Sawyer

Allen Bourdon netted his first goal of the match off a penalty kick in the third minute and scored again minutes later to help the #1 ranked team in the nation remain undefeated, improving to 3-0 on the season with a 2-0 win over Colby-Sawyer. Chris Feltes made several impressive saves keeping the game within reach for the Chargers, finishing with nine on the afternoon.

Men's Soccer Opens Defense Of NCAA Title With Win At Castleton

Middlebury began defense of its national title with a 2-1 non-conference win at in-state foe Castleton. The Spartans opened the scoring in the 49th minute of play when Greg Klopfer fed Josh Costa for his second goal of the season. Costa was able to redirect the pass just over the head of Middlebury keeper, Brian Bush.
