The men’s squash team became Middlebury’s 31st varsity sport in the fall of ’07. The team had been in existence as a club sport since the winter of ’01-’02, coached by men’s tennis coach David Schwarz.

The first few years of the program saw approximately 10 players on the roster and 3-4 matches per winter. The team’s roster has risen to 12-15 players over the past few seasons, with the team taking part in nationals for the past four years.

In its first season as a varsity sport in '07-'08, Middlebury saw its roster grow to 16 players as the team earned an 11-13 record. The Panthers won a NESCAC Tournament match, while competiting in the "C" flight at nationals.
