Men's Tennis Players Earn All-American Honors

Five members of the Middlebury College men's tennis teams earned All-American honors from the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association). Senior Kevin Bergesen (Beverly, Mass.) and his partner, first-year player Andrew Thomson (W. Bloomfield, Mich.) earned the honor in doubles play. Also earning All-American status in doubles were senior Alex Scott (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) and George Mayer (Merion, Pa.). Scott and sophomore Conrad Olson (Waterloo, Belgium) earned the honor in singles play.

Individuals Compete At NCAA's

Three members of the Middlebury men's tennis team qualified for the NCAA individual championships at Washington University in St. Louis. Alex Scott and Conrad Olson competed in singles play, while Kevin Bergesen and Andrew Thompson took part in the doubles bracket. Scott and George Mayer had qualified to compete in doubles, but were unable after Mayer suffered an injury.

Men's Tennis Ends Season With A Win

The men's tennis team ended its season on a good note with a 5-1 win over Gustavus Adolphus (29-9) in the NCAA consolation match. The Panthers finish their season with an impressive 22-2 record, tying the school record for wins.

The Middlebury men's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a tough 5-4 loss to Emory in the semifinal contest at Washington University in St. Louis. The Panthers will wrap up their regular season in an NCAA consolation match against Gustavus Adolphus on Thursday.

The Middlebury College men’s tennis team will make its fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals after defeating Amherst 5-2 in an NCAA Regional Final in Middlebury. The Panthers will take on Depauw of Indiana on Tuesday, May 15th at 9:00 a.m. at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The championship week is taking place from May 15-20 and is hosted by Washington University.

All-NESCAC Men's Tennis Announced - Scott Is Player Of The Year

Middlebury College men’s tennis player Alex Scott (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) has been named the 2007 NESCAC Player of the Year as determined by the conference coaches. The senior helped the Panthers claim the 2007 NESCAC Men’s Tennis Championship this season, the fourth-consecutive NESCAC title for his squad, by winning both of his doubles matches and taking one of two singles matches during the three-day event.

Men's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight NESCAC Title

The Middlebury College men’s tennis team won its fourth consecutive NESCAC Championship Sunday morning on the campus of Amherst College, defeating the third-seed Ephs of Williams College, 7-2. The win improves the Panthers to 18-1, while the Ephs move to 14-6.

Men's Tennis Completes Fifth Straight Undefeated NESCAC Season

Middlebury completed its fifth consecutive undefeated NESCAC season as the Panthers picked up a 7-2 win over Trinity in the regular season finale. Middlebury has now won 39 straight NESCAC matches, dating back to a 4-3 loss to Tufts on April 5th of 2002.

The men's tennis team won its 10th straight match as the Panthers handed Skidmore a 9-0 defeat. The contest marked the return of former Middlebury women's coach Nate Simms, who is now the head coach of the Skidmore men.

Men's Tennis Goes 5-1 On Spring Trip

The Middlebury College men’s tennis team won five of six matches played during its spring break trip to California. The Panthers opened the trip with a 6-3 win over Pomona-Pitzer, before defeating Chapman, 9-0. Middlebury then suffered its only loss of the trip, a 5-4 contest to Azusa Pacific on Monday. The Panthers then picked up a 6-3 win over Fresno Pacific, a 9-0 victory over California Tech and an 8-1 win over Redlands.

The Middlebury College men’s tennis team opened up its spring season with a pair of indoor wins on campus. The Panthers had little trouble as they picked up 9-0 wins over Connecticut College and Brandeis. The Panthers lost just one set in the two matches.

Nate Edmunds (Birmingham, Mich.), a 2006 graduate of Middlebury College and a four-year member of the Panther men’s tennis team, has been selected as the Division III men’s winner of the 2006 NCAA National Sportsmanship Award.
