Rudin Earns NESCAC Rookie of the Year Honors

Middlebury College men's basketball player Ben Rudin (Scarsdale, N.Y.) has been named the NESCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year for the '05-'06 season. Rudin helped lead the Panthers to a 7-0 start this season for the first time since the inaugural year of the program in 1917-18.

Rudin ended the season as the Panther's leading scorer with 10.3 points/game over 24 games played. He started 23 games, shooting .436 from the floor and grabbed 2.9 rebounds/contest. Rudin led the team with 4.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game. His 49 steals rank him third among his NESCAC opponents, while his 112 assists are sixth-best.

Middlebury's point guard had his biggest game of the season on January 13th, when he scored 28 points on 10 of 17 shooting in a game vs. Connecticut College. He had a career-high 10 assists on December 10th vs. Hamilton, while owning a season-high six thefts in a December 6th contest at Rensselaer.
