Men's Hoops Falls To Hamilton, Ends Semester 7-1

12/10/05 - Middlebury saw its seven-game winning streak to start the season come to an end as they fell to Hamilton (7-0), 92-84. The game was played before a crowd of 825 fans at the Pepin Gym, that saw the Panthers end their semester at 7-1.
Hamilton's full-court press caused Middlebury all kinds of problems early on, as the Continentals forced 12 Panther turnovers in the first 12 minutes, resulting in a 27-14 lead. Middlebury chipped away with a few quick runs, cutting the advantage to 43-36 at the half.
Middlebury made its first three shots of the second half, but Hamilton answered each time, including a pair of threes to keep the lead at 10 or more. The advantage grew to a game-high 15 three times, but Middlebury battled back on each of those occasions. The Panthers made a few late runs in the final minutes of the game, cutting the lead to six at 87-81 with 48 seconds remaining, but the Continentals went 8-10 down the stretch from the line to seal the win.
Andrew Harris led Middlebury with a game-high 21 points on 8 of 14 shooting, while Mike Walsh scored 18 on 7 of 10 shooting. Ben Rudin chipped in with 13 points and 10 assists, while Wil Hyatt and Kyle Dudley added a dozen points apiece.
All five Hamilton starters scored in double figures, led by Tim Welcons and Tsakane Ngobeni, who netted 18 points apiece. Nick Jones scored 11 in the win, while Phil Valenti and Giorgi Chavleishvili added 10 points apiece.
