Men's Hoops Opens With Loss To M.I.T.

The Middlebury men's basketball team opened up its season with an 83-73 loss against M.I.T. at the Gordon College Tip-Off Tournament. The Panthers return to action in the consolation game at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

M.I.T. built a 10-point lead early and slowly increased the margin, taking a 50-33 edge into the halftime break. Middlebury chipped away in the second half, but could only come within 10 as M.I.T. came away with the 83-73 win.

Ben Rudin led Middlebury with 16 points, Evan Thompson added 15, Andrew Harris scored 11, while Aaron Smith added 10.
