Men's Basketball Bounces Back With Win At Skidmore

The Middlebury men's basketball team (11-1) got back on the winning track with an 80-67 win at Skidmore (7-4) on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers return to action on Sunday with an in-state game at Lyndon State.

Middlebury held a slim lead early, going on a 14-4 run at the 5:38 mark of the first half to take a 45-24 advantage. Six different players scored during the run, including a pair of hoops from Andrew Locke (6 blocks).

Leading 47-28 at the half, Middlebury extended its lead to 29 on a hoop from Ryan Wholey at the 14:37 mark of the second half. Skidmore whittled the lead down to 23, before going on a 13-0 run to make it a 72-62 game with 3:19 remaining. The Thoroughbreds came within eight with 1:11 left, but the Panthers were able to pull away for the win.

Ryan Sharry led the Panthers with 19 points and 13 rebounds on 7 of 14 shooting, while Wholey added 14 points, going 6 of 9 from the floor. Nolan Thompson added 10 points and seven boards in the win, while Tim Edwards had eight points, seven boards and five steals. Brian Lowry led Skidmore with 20 points.
