Sharry Named NESCAC Player Of The Week

January 30, 2012

Middlebury College men’s basketball player Ryan Sharry (Braintree, Mass.) has been named the NESCAC player of the week for the third time this season. Sharry averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game in a 2-0 week for unbeaten Middlebury. He made 17-24 shots from the floor (.708) and hit 4-5 from the foul line over the week. After scoring 20 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in Tuesday’s 73-54 win over Plattsburgh St., Sharry had 19 points, including two of the Panthers’ final three, in a one-point victory against Williams on Saturday, 80-79.

Sharry needs to play in 75% of Middlebury’s games to qualify among the NESCAC leaders, having missed five earlier this season due to injury. His current stats would see him leading the league in scoring (21.5 ppg), field goal percentage (.687), blocked shots (2.0), while ranking second in rebounding (9.4 rpg).
