Kizel Earns Pre-Season All-American Honors

November 12, 2013

Middlebury College men’s basketball player Joey Kizel (Short Hills, N.J.) has been named a pre-season All-American by D3Hoops.com. The Panther guard is coming off a year in which he averaged 14.3 points and nearly five assists per game on a senior-laden squad that reached the NCAA quarterfinals. Kizel started all 28 games as a junior and earned first-team All-NESCAC and third-team All-American honors.

The Middlebury captain enters his senior season with 1,061 career points, good for 14th all-time on the Panther record list. By again averaging 14 points a game (something he has done both as a sophomore and a junior), Kizel would pass former teammate Ryan Sharry ’12 and 1995 graduate Jason Prenevost and move into fourth place on Middlebury’s career-scoring list.

Middlebury opens the 2013-14 season on Friday, facing Alvernia College in the first-round of the Franklin & Marshall Rotary Tip-Off Tournament in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
