Popp is now in his second season as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program at Middlebury College. Prior to joining the Panthers’ Basketball program, Popp was coaching at Springfield College, while also furthering his education. He achieved his Master of Science in Sport Management in 2009- 2011, and during this time he also served as the assistant coach for the Springfield College team. As a member of the staff, Popp was the recruiting coordinator, academic liaison, lead scout, and head coach of the junior varsity program.
In 2008-2009 Popp ran clinics for the non-profit Boston based company Shooting Touch, Inc. at the Reebok Headquarters in Canton, Massachusetts. Parallel to the clinics, Popp coached AAU for the nationally recognized program Expressions Elite.
He is a Winchester, Massachusetts native who played basketball at Winchester HS and the Northfield Mount Hermon School. He went on to play at the University of Minnesota, taking part in the 2005 NCAA Division I Tournament. Popp then transferred to Assumption College where he finished his career, and was an integral part of the 2008 NCAA Division II sweet 16 team. He graduated from Assumption with a bachelor's degree in business in 2008.
Popp is very active on the camp circuit, having worked an extensive amount of camps including Columbia University, Hoop Group Skills & Elite, Stanford University, University of Vermont, and Yale University.
